| Just had a row with the post office parcel i sent recorded delivery was left in a neighbours garden to thew intended reciptent, the post men stated no one home and he had left card, he lied as my friend had no card we have both complained, i have insisted the postmen be sacked for gross negligence, luckily the package was un opended and contents intact, but the postman damaged my friends letter box that now needs replacing, but they have said they will pay for that. But you do not expect to pay for a service and not recieve it. |

I've been trying to imagine what happened.
Postman has a package that won't go through the letterbox, so he tries to break the door to make the hole bigger, succeeds only in breaking the letterbox, gives up, curses roundly, throws the package over the neighbour's fence, and tiptoes away.
What do you think?

The package that damaged the letter box eventually landed on her mat along with the letter box and the outside poart of letterbox was on the door step, the ones on upvc doors cost £10 for each side plus fitting charges which can be anything between £25 to £50 depending on who you employ to do job.
As for my letter it was a recorded delivery that needed a signature, the postman claimed he had returned it to main office in Richmond, was on the royal mail track and trace.
Yet it was in the neighbours garden, My friend has had a visit from the supervisor of the post office, and the postman has been suspended for severe derilection of duty, my friend wisely get the envelope with the recorded delivery sticker on andthey have it as evidence against the postie, seemingly anything recorded or sent special delivery has to be returned to the office, the biggest gaff the postman claimed was a card had been left and had not, seems he has had 20 complaints in 4 weeks made against him, in fact this is the second time in two months my friend has had to.
But at least she got the contents gift voucher for xmas, Waiting now to hear what happens to postman, seems they will be sending me a form to reclaim the postage and specialy delivery fee. |

There's always one... unfortunately. I'm glad they're doing something about him, at last. There may be other things he's done, or failed to do, that haven't come to light yet. Let's hope he's just a seasonal extra, and not representative of the usual service.

This is definetly my mums annus horriblus and mine as i car about my mum and whats occured this year i would not wish on my worse enemy.
She had a knee replacement op earlier in the year followed by a nasty fall at home which she broke her wrist has recovered from that and last night she fell over the step of her front door and is currently having a op on her broken leg, what is so annoying is the ambulance deemed it none emergency so she was suffering for 2 hours before they took her to hospital.
How can a 76 year old woman in pain who has had a fall not be classed as a emergency. Things can only get worse with the way the country is at this time.
I find it apalling a elderly person can be treated in such a disgusting manner. |

Nothing to do with the age of the patient, I suspect, and everything to do with the ambulance staff. Most of the time, mine have been friendly, approachable and communicative, as well as competent. I've also had strutting idiots who knew nothing about warning signs; anything, in fact, except their own egos or chatting to their little pals. *thinks* The ones that plumbed the depths of arrogant incompetence were the ones that came on the two occasions I had endocarditis. I knew a boy who was in Germany when he got it, and was diagnosed within about six hours. It took three weeks to diagnose mine. Someone told the boy's father that it wouldn't have been diagnosed if he'd been in England. Perhaps there's a moral in there somewhere - that we need to spend more money on training and less money on managers.
How can they say it's not an emergency? Answer: because they've forgotten that older people Don't Like To Make A Fuss, so whatever is wrong is probably worse than she's made it sound. Back to the training, I think. Or simply the personal sensitivity and common sense of the people taking the calls?
Obviously I hope the op is successful. Please keep us posted.

| No news at the moment on my mum sister going up soon, seems her leg shrunk, they were looking at either nailing it or pinning both woyuld be preferential to a cast, as she lives on her home else it could be repite care somewhere. |

Why is pinning preferable to a cast? All things being equal, I think I'd prefer the non-intrusive option.

According to my sister a matron in one of Lincolnshire hospitals, because she is so independent if they pin it she will be able to go home and will need minimum care, with a cast the chances are she will stay in a 30 day hospital bed and then nedd minimum of 40 days asisted care before being allowed home.
Still not heard how her op went as it is early yet will ring in a hour. |

All things are very much not equal then! That's a very big difference.
Good news about the hopping and the knee. Hopping is very desirable.
