Why are receptionists so useless had one ring me last week asking me to make a appointment for my doctor, said to ring next week, so today i rang and was told shes on holiday for the week, now i might be wrong here but surely the person who range me knew she was off this week and could have told me.

So is another week before i can get the treatment i am going to need , but hell whats another week after 2 years delay due to a hospital cock up

lesley153 Surely she's not the only person in the practice who can make an appointment for you?

And what's the point of ringing you to tell you to ring next week, whether or not she's going to be there - wouldn't someone competent have rung and asked you to pick a date?

Well back from Doctors, said she was going to get in touch with the gastro people see if they need to see me or what action is needed from results of tests etc i have had, also going to conact the blood people and ask the same.

I broached the subject regards the gall stones and not being told before now, said it was 2010 when i was hospitalised and had transfusion and a scan, she looked at records and infor from hospital and agreed with me someone at hospital has cocked up looking into that.

Is also signing up to 38 degrees.org and will be signing the save the nhs petition later tyoday she said told her they had posters she could download and put up in surgery to get more support for nhs cause, was going to look at that too, so successful day in my drive to save nhs but not so on health probs as more things to go through.

lesley153 Does that mean you've got gallstones and can now get treatment for them, or you're closer to getting more information?

Lesley it seems i have had Gall stones since you did your detective work to find me in hospital, the hospital did not mention this on discharge letter, so means my GP did not know she is now looking into this, She plans to get me looked at by a gastrologist and a hameotologist as things still not right.

lesley153 Why are medical people so completely rubbish at communication? Unless it's because some of them work in large organisations and they all think it's someone else's job to tell patients what's going on?

I too have had odd snippets of information tossed at me, months or years after someone else must have known. "We didn't tell you because we assumed you already knew." Kill!

Let's hope your good GP sorts you out.

Lesley she was annoyed as i am , especially when i said i was part of a groupfighting for the future of the nhs as i believe in it so strongly,

She has joined 38 degrees and taking part in tonights demo online.

My good doctor is on warpath so hopefully something will be done, it is to me the ward that has let me down as they did not pass on the details of scan result.

She will get answers, not so sure i want to be probed and pulled and prodded in all directions let alone be stabbed with needles for blood tests.

Still may get to the bottom of things i hope.

lesley153 When the phlebotomists come for you, just close your eyes or turn your head away or both.

What fun, getting your GP on the warpath! The more, the merrier.

Agree Lesley more the merrier she was unaware of the petition so imagine the rest of doctors would be so if she got or gets them to sign, will be good for the cause, i watched the web broadcast from westminister a lot of good speeches from dpoctors nurses etc, andfrom other people.

lesley153 Ooh I didn't know about that - been running round in circles for two days - can you please find me a link?

Sorry Lesley saw message to late, it ran for two hours last night and was some very good speakers, one lady from south africa wherte theu are trying to set up a system like ours was a great speaker.

The biggest shock was for the first time a Labour MP said that if these measures are not stopped, we will wehn we get in office repeal this as it is very dangerous to the health of the people, sadly it was not the mp it should of been Dead head ed milliband, but the Labour health spokesman Andy Burnham.

If Milliband had any guts he would have been there as well and said what Burnham said Ed milliband is now being compared to the grey man of politics one Ian Duncan Smith who has said Ed milliband would never become PM

lesley153 Not to worry. At least you're reporting on it.

Yes, people are now calling the beleaguered brothers the Minibrains. Shame upon them! :p

I only wish the PM had a backbone and withdrew the bill, when the college of nurses, Surgeons and GP's are against it, and you get such spirited speeches from people like the South african lady and then ~American director Michael Moore he surely must realise it is wrong.

But we all know what they will say was Labours fault, i was never a labour voter till a few years ago, saying that never was a tory voter either.

Saying that as i was with the SDP prior to the Liberals snaffling it up was politicaly active, had the respect of a lot of councillors and mp's for my views and the way i put them over. Remember one saying he's not want me as a friend he had crossed as i had such a good brain and i had the ability that many lack, that of using the press to get my point over and in the course make my critics seem stupid and inept.

Always remember one of our labour councillors of the looney left saying one daythat the council were to spend thousands on signs for both teh roads into Lincoln and the railways saying you are entering a nuclear free zone, so asked a question of him in the press that could trains read and if Lincoln was a nuclear free zone was he going to get them removed from RAF waddington which had nuclear warheads stored there, still do i believe. He did not know how to reply, aslos when the AIDS problem first reared it's head he stated in public that he intended to employ more claners for the public toilets to help stop the spread of AIDS. So asked if he had read the leaflets the government had sent everyone which inmformed how AIDS could be caught and that it mentions nowhere toilet seats.

He spoke to me in the street one day saying he was sick of me making him look like a total fool, what did i want to stop my pieces ion the press as i was making him and his collegues look bad.

Told him i would let him know the next time he made a gaff, few weeks later he handed me a guilt edged opportunity, when he made a rash statement of banning or cancling contracts with hauliers that crossed picket lines during the miners strike, learnt from a friend one of our councillors was doing just that at wapping working for stinker murdoch, so rattled a letter off, stating his statement to the press about crossing picket lines and did that also include councillors who did the same thing if it did was he going to kick off this councillor, he went ballistic at me and said i was wrong so told him i would now l;et the paper have the photographic proof i had of this and with inb 3 hours the councillor had resigned.

Sadly he is no longer with us but some of the councillors still remember he way i tied him and others in knots and have been asked to join the Labour party as they want me in council as i can put over points of views and get support. Sadly health as it is prevents me doing so.

You've done a good job there Gary. It's irrelevant who you support, if you catch them telling lies then you are exposing and weeding out the rubbish, and there is plenty of that. More now than ever before, and something I now can spend hours a day doing. It's not about my politics but people in it who claim one thing and offer another. We don't want that junk anywhere in the world. We used to be respected as the home of democracy, now we've learnt and copied from all the worst.

Thank you David i do my best with politicans regardless if their party another event caused by my favourite enemy of Labour left springs to mind, I was standing for council and done a hard days canvessing and leafletting, and was at the full council meeting listening to a topic on local transport i was intrested in, basicaly what the council intended to do now the tories had changed the regulations, the council owned and ran one of the 2 bus companies in Lincoln due to mis information they decided to sell it off to the opposition who were about bust. This did go through and a few years later it was sold on by that comapny to stagecoach, sho owns the majority of the bus companies in the UK, and tatcher had said she wanted to stop one company having the monopoly of bus companies. I transgress however from the story.

Was sat in the guildhall which is above the stonebow in lincoln and obviousdly was tired as been busty since 9.30 and not really eaten, i was sat there and was stiffling a yawn when the labour leader said if the gentleman with the dafidol rosette wants to sleep we will wake him before we go and then carriend on with his rather boring speech, as i had another meeting to go to i got up to leav and was approached by the press for a comment on the personel attack by the labour leader, to which i replied i had trated it with the contempt the comment deserved and my actions should have showed that. The reporter included this in his coverage report and said he was shocked i did not want to reply and repected me for my actions

Receives a letter today with my appointment to see a gastrologist, is wuite good time scale i supposeit is over 2 months away chances are i will probably forget about it by time its due.

One good thing it is not the guy i was dreading seeing as he is blinkered with his views saw him back in 2010 and he was insistant that the problem was this which after a multitude of tests it was not what he was so sure it was.

so long time till 29th may and at first i thoughtit was a bank holiday then realised they moved it fwd to june for the queens jubilee.

Now i wait and see

“Why are medical people so completely rubbish at communication?” Because all they care about is a degree on the wall? (Not all, mind you, but seems the vast majority really don’t care about the patient.)

Reminds me of how the hospital didn’t do any follow-up on my vitamin deficiency; few months later, my family doctor did that!

Shameful.
