just 48 hours before i am collected to be taken to the hospital for my bone density scan.

Am assured it is painless and un intrusive, some info i read said no need to change into a gown, yet the leaflet sent from the hospital says i will have to change into a gown, which to me is intruisive.

Scan looks straght forward so look forward to see what they will find if anything.

lesley153 Sometimes hospitals send wrong information because somebody misinterprets a key word and presses the button that tells you that you'll need something you don't need. You know that.

Sometimes it can be something as profoundly inconvenient as bringing A Responsible Adult, and not driving, because the button-pusher can't tell the difference between infusing antibiotics and infusing general anaesthetic. Sometimes it's something minor, like bring your medication, when a list will do: or bring a list - and nobody bothers to look at it.

Whatever it is, it's usually dismissed with "Oh we always say that - it's a standard letter." Well I'm glad you knew that. Perhaps next time you'll share your wisdom with me?

If they do wave a gown at you, will you put it on over your clothes?

wish i had your wisdom Lesley, i will have to grin and bear it i think.

Is something new to me this bone scan, is like a physio bed with apiece over it that moves up your body, taking pictures as it goes. Takes 25 mins

lesley153 Huh - I wish I had my wisdom! Hope it goes quickly and efficiently.

Scan over and done with. Results will take four weeks, with the time of year i think maybe longer.

Seems the scan measures hip bone and lower spine, was measured before scan seems i have shrunk slightly, weight was slightly down.

I agree, Murray not to win.

I think Djokovic will have too much for the others at this early stage of the season.

60% on Murray here, partly as if Nadal is finished half his defeats will be wiped out automatically, he is at his peak while Federer is coming down from his. It will be interesting to see what happens now the predictions are coming in.

Talking of falling off their pedestal was good to see Leyton Hewitt fall at the first hurdle. Was never a fan of his ,

I always liked Lleyton, I think of him as being a player that made the most of his talent. He didn't waste a drop of it, also he was firey on-court. We were coming out of the era of some of the 'quiet men' of the game (Pete Sampras, Pat Rafter, Agassi's 2nd coming etc) when he turned up and spiced it up a bit.

Nice to have someone that lets you know exactly how much the win means to them. That's not to say I don't appreciate the dignified approach too, I do very much, but I think sports benefit so much from having diverse characters.

Got to see my Doctor yesterday and she apologised for the delay, said her family should come first when they are ill.

I just do the best i can with my health probs, she then said that my bone density is declining but as yet am not in the osteo porosis group but could be going this way has ordered blood test for friday and a phone consultation 28th jan to see where we go from there.

She did appreciate the fact i was a rare patient that was not going to complain about struggle to get appointment, it seems a lot do complain about struggle to get appointments with preferred doctor.

Told her we should all realise that Doctors have families who can get health problems like we can and as she is a doctor her family had to come first.
