For heavens sake! Maybe Trojan doesn't read the 'regular' blogs...Therefore, doesn't realize that professer has the same problems day after day. I think the response is apt.
Certainly no offense meant, either way. :)

I agree with Trojan. Sometimes the best thing we can do for anyone is support and encourage them, and I've been grateful for more than my fair share of support and encouragement from you lot, specially over the last year when I was feeling dreadful and struggling to find out why.
But I do think there's a limit, and I have recently become increasingly worried about Gary, as his distress for his friend has taken over his whole life, and threatens to make him ill. I am concerned that his concern is blocking out everything that is good, and he will eventually see only the bad.
Sympathy can only go so far. I think there's a point after which we do more good by finding ways to encourage Gary to keep his head above water.
And this isn't new. I've said something along these lines to Gary more than once - please stop concentrating on all the bad things, and try to focus on the good too, before you forget how to.
Gary, perhaps (I hope) your GP will have advice for you to help you cope. But, for now, I would like to add my voice to this piece of advice:
"Pick yourself up, give yourself a shake and a stern talking to....and start planning for your next trip."
(((((())))))

When you are in constant pain as Gary is because of the fibromialgia, topped off by the terrible accident that his friend was in, it is hard to think of anything else. It is well known that stress aggravates fibromialgia. I am glad that Gary has a place to come to talk about it. For his own sake he needs to cheer up, and he will.

I neither agree or disagree with trojan. I merely asked a question.
I cannot tell anyone how they should feel or not feel.
I've said more to Gary than is posted in Fun Trivia. I hope he takes it to heart.

Control issues Deunan? You have obviously heard about my ailing prostate.
I did say that you 'seem' angry, not that you were angry. Your follow-up, whichever way one reads it, was defensive. Merely, it would seem (please note the word - seem) because I disagreed with you and had the temerity to say so. Your own phrase, 'control issues?', springs to mind.
Please note, that I do not in any way mean to denigrate the clearly valid and valued friendship shown by responders to this blog, in any way. Merely that I disagree with the tone as a helpful vehicle for the OP.
And now, if you will forgive me, I must prepare my cane for the mornings first lesson in order to thrash any recalcitrant 12th grade students who display unwanton signs of free thinking or, dare I say, lack of attention.
As a matter of fact, I'm bloody late and really must trot off.

Cheese omelette sounds OK! all warm and unctuous... Haven't had one of those for ages.
Nobody's offended, Gary - why should they be? We all wish you health and peace of mind, but nobody wants to see you swimming in a sea of unproductive sympathy and going under.
And we all have different ways of expressing ourselves, none of which warrants bitterness or anger.
Going to have potato salad and hard-boiled egg now, because it's ready. I can see me treating myself to a cheese omelette later. *drool*

No one on this site means any harm Gary, we boot them out long before it gets that far ;) Now if you use blogspot (or worse still Youtube) that's a different game of soldiers. I get plenty of stick over global warming (let alone my own personal life over on Blogspot) but then again I get just as much in the real world except many would be far too scared to say the same things face to face. As long as you know you've done nothing wrong it makes no difference what anyone else says.

Very well done, professor. You have shown restraint concerning your ills. Courageous, and difficult, I know. So, again, well done.
As for offending me. No such thing. I just popped in, had a word or two, and now I shall pop off again. Good luck. Unless, of course, I hear that you are sliding back.....then, I shall return, hec-hec-hec.

Thanks, Gary, I did. Your appetite will come back slowly, as you think of things that appeal to you, and it might be something as simple as something that someone else has mentioned, like a tangerine, or a few blueberries.
I hope your doctor helped your mind and your body.

Trojan may have a blog already with a gold star. Do you know something about the blogs we don't Gary? They were under threat once hence the arrival of these, the link may be gone but there's a lot of work gone into them in the last few years.
