The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

lesley153 No, I had to look it up. It sounds like it should be a regional word, but it seems to be standard English. Don't let anyone tell you that FT isn't educational! :p

Consider it adopted, thank you.

lesley153 I was out walking at midday, a hundred miles south of you, and got quite warm in the sun. Another fifty-odd miles south and you're in central London. Jonathan spent an hour sitting out in the sun in a shirt. Nowt to do with age or arse, and everything to do with location. Sorry!

cannot believe how i am still going, had just 4 hours sleep in 3 days yet am going along fine even though i feel knackered :),even managed to carry my shopping from sainsburys to my mums and after awhile from there to bus stop get two buses home.

She is making good progress after her knee replacement cant wait for her to be able to drive as she is going stir crazy being stuck at home, unless my sister takes her out.

lesley153 I'm glad it's going well, and hope your sister, or someone - anyone, does take her out. When I haven't been able to drive, I've drowned in offers to get shopping or "anything" for me, and was grateful for that, but only one person asked if I'd like to _go_ shopping with her, or out to lunch... or just out, who cares where?

Lesley i do not drive so idepend sometimes on others to take me about, saying that the free bus pass i have helps a deal.

She will get out tmw which is good for my mum and next week shes at the physio, my sister is currently having to reapply for her job thanks to our wonderful government, she is a dedicated matron dedicated to the health service her interview has just started.Un like most sisters/matrons my sister will not ask staff to do jobs shes not prepared to do herself and often mucks in making beds claning up etc.

lesley153 "depend sometimes on others to take me about"
And you know how lovely it is when they do.

How bizarre. What is happening with the NHS? I hope your sister manages to come through this without tearing too much hair out.

Am struggling at the moment aches and pains that come with age, added to it i have done something to my right knee, whilst sleeping.

My mum went to the physion thursday who was pleased with her progress, and before she went she was surprised by the flowers i ordered for mothers day, brownie points for me :).

My sister has kept her job or i should say got the job she wanted moves back to Grantham hospital as theatre matron soon, helps when you get 80% of the specialist speak out on her behalf, they all trust her and like working with her knowing that no problems will arise in surgery when shes on, one woman who my sister did not get on with as she sat on her fat postirier in a office did not get hers at grantham but has a job in theatres in Lincoln, she has 100 round trip to do now so they think she will

lesley153 "...she has 100 round trip to do now so they think she will..." Please tell us how the sentence ends!

Good news about your mother and sister. Hope your pain gets easier. Will the warm weather help?

well Lesley shows i am not conctrating well due to pain, the end of sentance should have said resign her post, as it will stop them having to pay redundancy.

Been a nice day here today and looks like it will last to the weekend. Is hard to believe the council elections will soon be upon us as have not seen on person trying to get my vote. Only thing i have had is a voting card which is no use to me as i am a postal voter, i have had the booklet on chnaging the voting system and i have to sayi found mein kampf easier to read and understand.

It is obvious to me that the Tories do not want a change hence there oppostion to it and hence the choice of system, The liberals were bought off easily for a little power and will not achieve PR under this system

Been a lovely warm day today :) started off badly as i left my inhaler at home, i had to get bus home pick it up and then start my day again, went shopping picked up what my mum wanted and then went to see her, hopefully see specilaist nxt week and may get the all clear to drive again :) will be so good for her.

One thing thats puzzling me is how sainsburys can give vouchers for so much off shopping if you spend £20, to me would be better if the dropped prices over the store, aero deserts i like Asda Price £1 sainsbury price £1.19. is just a example

lesley153 My poll card's arrived and there have been a couple of flyers through the letterbox. That's it. No sign of any human canvassing.

It's been beautiful today. Warm and sunny, my new gardener came today and did two hours, and there has not been sight or sound of the "people" next door for weeks. Just seven or eight big black bags of rubbish in their front garden, till the bins were emptied, and now the bags are in their bin, propping the lid up. Dare I hope that they are moving out?

I think the hay fever season is starting. Does that make asthma worse?

lesley153 Agree about pricing. A favourite question is, they're offering two for one or three for two: why not just knock half or a third off the price?

In some cases yes it can Lersley however saying that mine is made worse by stress and with not sleeping well due to aches and pains is causing me breathing problems
