I had one of those little gadgets a few years ago, after a quite massive amount of surgery. They work on little pains, like muscle stress and so on. But they are not likely to help anything that's organcally wrong, or massively out of alignment. Gel on the pads is a pest; eventually the pads wrinkle and need to be replaced. They get covered in hairs, bits and pieces..........good for catching flies, 'tho.
Red hot kettle drum sticks are a better bet. You just get a friend to pound away at the body area concerned, and before you know it you've completly forgotten about the original pain.

Is the reason you've forgotten is due to being beaten like a tenderized piece of meat?
Hi, Professer. I hope today is less painful for you and tomorrow even more comfortable.
I know I've had times when pain makes thinking almost impossible. That's when I rely on FT even more. I can focus and the interaction of people helps a great deal. If that doesn't work, I cuss.

Oh daymare, you are a scallywag. I didn't say that I had suffered the treatment; I merely suggest that prof try it as an alternative. Think of all the fun you can have spreading soothing ointment over his hideously burnt flesh. Then there will be the plastic surgery options....lots to talk about, and stuff.

I've never experienced being a scallywag. One should always try new things.....except hot things placed on the body which will burn you.
I have to be careful with the heating pad. When the pain is excessive, my body doesn't feel the heat as well and I can overdo it.
I am a scallywag.....hey, I looked it up on the www and found out it means I 'smell bad'. Well!

Trojan, that sounds like me offering to stamp on someone's foot, to take their mind off their toothache - only a great deal more colourful. And imaginative!
According to Wiki, the word scallywag derives from an old Irish word for servant.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scallie
Michael Quinion says it’s travelled to Liverpool from Latin via Scotland and America.
http://www.worldwidewords.org/weirdwords/ww-sca1.htm
Both give a variety of meanings that have changed over the years, but I haven’t found anything to do with being smelly.
Daymare, I seem to remember our having this conversation before, and none of us was prepared to believe that you are anything other than delightfully fragrant!

Yes, I do smell good.
Where I found the 'smells bad' explanation is a place I can't post as I will be put in the FT corner.

Daymare, the modern definition of scallywag, is 'scamp', 'rascal', 'naughty,' and so on. I would be last one to suggest that you are foul smelling, when I can't possibly know any such thing. You have always come across as fragrance in bloom, a positive garden of lovelies, the very petal of compassion, decency and kindness.
Really sorry if I put my foot in....or dropped my foot in it, so to speak. :)

trojan11...when I googled 'scallywag', all sorts of information appeared (as expected). One definition, which I obtained from a site I cannot post a link to as it contains unacceptable FT words showed 'pirate' and 'smells bad'.
Apparently, you took my light-hearted comment much too seriously. How I 'smell', as FT does not have 'smellevision', is not relevant.
I believe it is time for me to go.

There's something rotten in the state of Denmark, but the state of Colorado always smells good to me--fresh mountain air, and all that.

"Mum" is/was a deodorant, right? That fits in with our earlier topic. :-)

Abject apologies, daymare. You are absolutely correct. 'Smell' is irrelevant on FT; it was just that you got the wrong end of the stick, and then insisted upon how 'good' you always smell - you've insisted that quite a few times, actually.
Anyway, I'm off to do lots and lots of laundry now. ta-ta.
