The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

No need to be Mare is something i am so used to know, shame in this day and age theres no magical cure, a friend from Canada has sent me a cream to try which may work she says.

lesley153 Ooh a new friend! (I don't know about you lot, but I need all the friends can keep!)

We've got Meals on Wheels here too, and Social Services decide whether or not you qualify. Here's what Lincs County Coucil says:

"Community meals are available for older or vulnerable people and can be provided on a short term or long-term basis according to need, and after an assessment has been undertaken."

"The meals are delivered frozen - this means you can re-heat the meal at a suitable time. If you have difficulty reheating a meal Social Services can provide support."

There are also firms that deliver meals without getting involved with local government agencies. I don't know how costs compare.

Gary, good luck with the cream. I'll try anything once, and this might be the thing that works!

Yes, my brother in his 40's has a buddy who just turned 80. The family is long lived, Mom was 102 when she passed. He has good health, a little heart trouble, but no longer drives.

The area where we live has no public transportation. We are at least one half hour from any grocery store, so he gets Meals on Wheels.

I never knew the blogs were here and I don't sleep at night, so I've been haunting the board.

I can't keep from commenting if I know anything. Chatty Cathy.

I already have my Chatterbox badge.

I guess I should confess Professer, I've been seriously lurking.

I'll let y'all know me a little anyway. 60 year old retired female postal worker. I was hurt on my job in 1990, but continued to work until 2009, it wasn't easy. Finally had to throw in the towel.

I can comiserate a little as my health isn't great right now. A long, hot summer confined to house because of the heat, has left me very weak. Like you Profeser, I hate that feeling!

I'm so mad about it that I think I can fight back a little anyway.

It was detected that I have diabetes, two years ago they figured it out.

Things I like to do is make people laugh, play with pets, give advice (watch out). Every now and then I like to vent or throw a pity party as we say here.

My guilty pleasure is TV, adventure type reality shows. I know most people are kinda sick of them, so I don't go on about it.

FT has keep me sane more than one long sleepless night.

Now you know, I come in peace.

I did not doubt it postal, and yes we all have our crosses to bear, The doctors seem to diagnose Diabetes more and more, which i find hard to believe.

I drink a lot of soft drinks an sometimes it is a glucose drink just to boost my energy levels, a friends mother who is diabetic said let me test you on my meter so said ok, she was shocked as was i and my friend, my blood sugar levels were well in the levels for non diabetic, in fact she said on the on side. It does appear i cannot absorb vitamin b12 so have to have injections next is due in 21 days then its 3 months later. I find the b12 do not make much difference really but i do as i am told.

I've had both pnumonia and pluisy, neither one is much fun.

Seems like everyone is diabetic, I agree Professer. Just like the plague of autism and hyperactivity in young males now-a-days.

Let's hope only a mild case of whatever for you.

lesley, Chatty Cathy is a person who just won't quit talking, not my name. Sorry for confusion. In fact, I think it was the name of one of the first talking dolls!

Diabetes is not a disease for the lazy. I never liked to count calories on a diet and now my doc thinks I'll count carbs? I can cut out sugar, I don't smoke or drink. That's about the best I can do. I'm trying to improve.

Who has to work today?

At last you know the x-ray results...by mail.

What happened to doctor and office staff who would call and state "the results for your test are....".

I'm concerned the Pnuemonia wasn't addressed immediately. No wonder you've felt less than your perky self.

Mare i was given anti biotics when i was sent for xray so something must been heard when my chest was examined, the pain is still there but not as bad.

Well is good that doctor has written and enclosed the xray form so i can go at my leisure.

If only my hands could be sorted as quick.

lesley153 I've had pneumonia. Oh what fun that was!

Seems I've led a sheltered life. A doll that says I love you? Aargh!
