| Hmmm I guess Jabberwok didn't except my challenge? What the heck, she didn't even play? Disturbing to say the least. |

I still love you RJ, honest.
Just busy and stressed and feeling rather like one of those plate spinners you get as a circus act.
Although the thought of a gorgeous young cowboy missing me has filled me with such delight that the teacher barely noticed the accept/except issues in your post. :D
I'm also learning how to use my new laptop, one of the odd consequences is that without a real mouse, my times have doubled.
Having to wrestle it from the octopus-like embrace of Boy isn't easy either. Especially when he holds it over his head.

'without a real mouse'?
What on earth are you wittering on about, you daft old bat?
I meant a mouse that plugs in and you can wiggle it to make the pointer move. I've got a pad and a click thingy instead.

Ha ha it's good to have you back kiddo ;-) I have an excuse for using the wrong accept/except but I don't think it will fly. (The spell checker didn't know what I meant? Can't trust the damn software.)
It's understandable that your times would increase when you're used to a mouse and there isn't one. Is your lap top Bluetooth enabled? If it is you can use a wireless mouse, and be right back in the saddle ;-) That's what I'm using, most of the time. Granted, I'm not real quick on the draw ;-)

Sorry, Robby told me about you and I couldn't resist. He spoke very highly of you by the way. Believe you me that's unusual for that boy!

You do know you are talking to Jabberwock, Technoclot extraodinaire?
Blueooth-enabled?
I'll ask my Nerdlet when she comes back from her walk. : )

Hi Jabberwok,
The best way to use your mouse with a lap top is like Breck said with a wireless mouse. However, if you don't have Bluetooth you can plug in a regular mouse in one of your USB ports. If you need any info on this procedure just pm me.
Did your water pipes freeze this year ;-)

My father is a specialist in disaster management and relief. His main point being that if you are well-prepared, many disasters are avoidable. :D
So no, our water pipes are fine, and if we'd had a burst I have 10 gallons of drinking water stashed and 3 water butts.
We did quite a lot of trekking with a sledge to the shops, which was great fun, and one huge bonus is that the population of small birds and other wildlife has rocketed in my garden.
Nerdlet is back to university at the weekend, she has discovered that she has a real talent for Japanese and is now eyeing up Russian with interest.
Just what this house needed, another linguist. :)
Now, a plumber or a builder on the other hand...

Oh the fun I had, living with an American philosopher from Boston, an astronomer from New York. An archaeologist from Bavaria, a chemist from Frankfurt and a Dutch astronomer. Not to mention my future husband.
All in a shared student house, with half a dozen different version of English and cultural assumptions that were a constant source of wonderment to all of us. An oddity for every day.
So yes, a butt is a large container for liquids and nothing to do with Dart Simpson. :)

Wow I'm surprise you've even heard of him, much less the song.
One of my dad's favorite songs. He used to say I looked like I was lost as a wild goose in winter, if it took more than a nano second to answer a question he asked ;-) |

I have Boy's cat sprawled on my legs and partially on the keyboard. As I need to see the keyboard when I type, I'm blaming the fuzzball for any errors.

My Dad is a great fan of several C&W singers.
He turned up on Boxing Day wearing a Hank Williams sweatshirt someone had sent him.
Cash I like, Williams I can do without.

Nope, sorry that won't cut it sister. You get an F in spelling. That's what you earned and that's what you get. End of story ;-)
You a hunt a peck typist, Jabberwok? I was too until I got to college and I couldn't keep up with the work load and still drink my fair share of beer. I purchase a program called typing tutor or something like that, that helped me learn to type. It didn't do a thing for my grammar or spelling though. |

Nerdlet says I type like a chicken, peck, peck.
She sounds more like a high calibre machine gun.
I used to pay her to type up reports and such, made my life a lot easier, and she her grammar and spelling are excellent.
In my day, brainy gels did languages and dim gels did typing. Guess who's up the creek now? :D

Well, I've been hanging around here with the intention of kicking some of these Prima Donna's butts in trivia but so far I've only managed to get mine kicked ;-(
Been a real pleasure chatting with you Jabberwok. I've got to go out and buck some hay before it gets to dark. Have fun! |
