I didn't see the show. I wish I had. Ken is phenomenal about ringing in first against human opponents. I doubt anyone beat Watson unless he didn't want to ring in. That ringing in speed, is a difficult one to overcome and puts the human players at a distinct disadvantage.
I've never even thought about Jeopardy or anything like that. My mom entered me in the Memory Olympics when I was still in high school. I did OK except for the photographic speed reading. I really blew in that category. |

Elle has requested that I stop by and let you all know that she has a sick cat in ICU. That's why she hasn't been around. She will be back as soon as she can.
Jazmee, she mentioned you specifically. She wants me to assure you that she hasn't forgot what she told you. She will be back.

Just a quick note to let you know I am indeed still alive. I am going to play team games really fast, and then I'm out the door to visit Tulo. He is still in the ICU. He was poisoned by a tiny, tiny bite of a day lily leaf. Every part of a day lily is absolutely lethal to cats. Who knew?? The day lily came in my birthday bouquet from my mother. It's SO wrong, but a tiny nip of the leaf of a flower is trying to kill my kitty. Tory, his brother, is fine. I had him checked, too. He just misses his brother so much.
I'll be back as soon as I can, and thank you Anton, so much, for making that update post for me when I just didn't have time. I have to be strong for both my kitties and just keep going. Spread the word about day lilies -- they are LETHAL to cats -- every part of the plant causes renal failure.

Elle --
Sorry to hear about your cat. When I was a kid, the boy scout troop I was in was having a fund-raiser so we decided we would sell chocolate bars. My allotment was delivered to the house (three cases) and my German Pointer got into it. Well, chocolate is toxic to dogs and needless to say it made him violently ill. He did eventually get better but to this day I cannot look at a Nestlé Krunch bar and not shudder!

Thank you all, so much. My Tulo is getting better by the day, but he is still in the ICU and he's staying there until his bloodwork levels off so we know the level of damage to his kidneys.
Simon, your chocolate story makes me just cringe. I did know chocolate was poisonous to dogs. It's so scary, isn't it?
I owned two German Short-Haired Pointers, the mother and one of her male puppies, and they are such great dogs, so loving and bright and happy. I am SO happy to hear your dog recovered.
I feel the same way right now about flowers. Not only have I tossed every flower out of my house that arrived for my birthday, I have tossed out all my plants, too, and none of them are toxic. I know, I checked. I just can't stand to look at flowers or plants right now. I also did a Google search on day lilies when that bouquet arrived, and found nothing that said they would hurt a cat, and I never left my kitties alone for one second with that bouquet. But even the pollen of the day lily is toxic. It's just so wrong that a flower could kill a kitty. It honestly makes me sick.
And in case you don't know, because apparently a lot of people don't (I didn't until the Vet told me,) green grapes are also toxic to dogs; the green grapes we buy at the store to eat. I just want to get the word out to everyone about toxicity and pets. It hurts so much to see your sweet, innocent pets in pain or ill.
Honestly and truly, thank you all so much and I'll be back as soon as I can. I'll keep you updated, too. I want my Tulo home. I miss him so much, and so does Tory, his brother.

I hope Yulo is getting better Elle. I am amazed at how much better veterinary medicine has become. Our old vet was a grizzled guy who tended to pretty much every animal in the area from dairy cows to horses, goats, chickens as well as household pets. Nowadays the amuont of information available and treatments and specialists is just amazing compared to then.
Also keep in mind not only grapes but onions/garlic/any allium as well (for cats, too). I thought it was a bunch of hooey because some of my dogs had eaten onions and didn't seem to exhibit any symptoms, but if they get too many it's fatal.

Tulo!
On a lighter note, there's been all this speculation about Spiderman the musical, and one review in New York magazine said this about people fearing that the lines Spiderman uses to zip about the theatre might break:
"Nervous? Don't worry, you're allowed to drink in the theater: Never before have I sat in a mezzanine so littered with beer cans! (Not to worry, theater snobs: They were Heinekens!) "

Looks like they are going to film the Great Gatsby in Australia, in 3D. The only defugalty I see is why would they shoot a drama in 3D? I don't think it would be worth the extra cost myself. The Great Gatsby is a great book, if it were me I would film it in black and white.

I'd film it in sepia, with a slightly blue tone. :)

| That's an interesting thought flopsy, blue toned sepia. My word, I believe I see your point, as the plot does make use of a certain bluesy ambiance. Yes, that would work rather nicely. I do believe blue toned sepia was quite popular in films just after WW I. Additionally, and in keeping with the theme, I know I would certain be put off and bluesy if a tipple was legally available now and then. |

| Now flopsy, you can't just fade away into cyberspace after floating such a great idea about how to film the Great Gatsby. What do you think of this idea? How about filming it in reverse chronological sequence? I think this would tend to heighten the sense of poignant irony that evolves as the characters pursue wealth and status and elevate its emotional impact on the audience. |
