I have it on good authority that it is necessary to have the can of Guinness with the widget in... Guinness Draught. *shrugs* I've tried it in Dublin pubs and it's quite nice, but I find it a little heavy on the stomach.

Hey baban,
I thought for sure the Llamas had you chained to a chair somewhere cranking out quizzes or clicking on answers. Nice to see they let you out in the exercise yard occasionally ;-)
You know baban, the canned stuff with the widget(damn near swallowed one of those)in it is what I had. I'm beginning to think it just a matter of taste. While I like most of the German Beers, the rest of European beers I can live without. I like beer cold and fizzy not room temp and flat. It's more about what you get used to, I expect. The difference in taste sure didn't stop me from putting away a sixer with my pizza ;-) |

You did pour it out into a glass didn't you? I love that bit best, seeing it settle and the head form :)

| Naw baban, I was drinking out of the can. It was too dark outside to see much of anything except fire flies. I know besides being uncouth, drinking out of a can you lose the visual stimulus but sometimes you just gotta improvise. You know what I mean? |

It says that it is/was PAZ's birthday...so that's a reason to drink Guinness!

I mostly lurk...But I just have to ask: What is a widget?
I've had Guiness (dark, I think) while playing darts in an Irish Pub, but I don't recall ever hearing about a widget.

First things first:
Hi Jane!
Hi Mel!
(Veronica, I have no clue what a widget is either, but I'm hoping this is the place to find out)
(No offense, truly, but other than my ONE cup of coffee a day, if i can't see through it, I'm not drinking it! Guiness scares me! The addition of a widget isn't helping!)

Packs vs. Herds, Part I :
There is a huge difference between a pack animal and a herd animal. Cows mill about in a herd, hoping to remain in the center where it's nice and safe. Sheep are close, although they are a flock animal. Deer, elk, moose -- your basic herd animals. Herd animals are prey, not predators.
Wolves are pack animals. They work together, they set up those plays (this is where sports came in initially), they have not only a great offense, but an incredible defense. Wolves, pack animals, prey on all those above-mentioned herd animals. Herds are all defense, with no offense, making them "prey."
Packs have leaders (Alphas;) herds are lucky if they have one bull keeping his harem.
To be continued...

(Depending on the sport, it's that entire "wolfpack" mentality that I love. And when it's live, and you can actually see it all play out in front of you, panoramically, as they set up their next play? Indescribably delicious.)
Hi Elle,
I thought the wolf pack behavior was a comment on the behavior of the AUDIENCE at a sporting event. The wolf pack being the crowd. For instance, crowd behavior becomes overly aggressive through the process of "de-individuation". Fans begin throwing things at the players or becoming overly agitated with the referees etc.
Maybe I'm just thoroughly confused, as is often the case. I hope I haven't put you through a lengthy explanation due to my sloppy reading habits.
