Opening (barn) doors and (urban) drift just sounds like a recipe for disaster. Or, a recipe for a really big team!

I have a question -- when does a small team become a medium team become a large team? I can't find the cutoff.

gakichan Peeking in through the window here. How is your team building effort going? A question: Are you Morpheus the God of Dreams or Morpheus with the cool sunglasses, trench coat and existentialist babble?

I'm the Morpheus with the holy Levis, dirty boots, and a wry smile on his face. The one who got himself an Engineering degree to run a horse farm...I'm that one.

As far as the team building, it's slow going but if you would join we'd be getting pretty close to a quorum ;-)

Or if you prefer;
I'm trying to free your mind, gakichan. But I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it ;-)

On the subject of open doors - my team still has an open door and by that method we have grown into a well mixed team of interesting people from a lot of different places. I will be closing the door soon because I don't really want us to move up into the 'medium teams'. Most of my members are recent recruits to FT (myself included) but we have attracted some long standing players like Rowena, CrimsonKiss and Cyberhen. The experienced members help and encourage the newer members and I have seen some good friendships developing amongst the team members.
Are you wary of who may drift in? You can always send them packing if you don't want them in your team.

Or you could always send loads of invitations out to people not already in a team. I did this a lot in the first few weeks and gained some people who have developed into very good players and who also contribute a lot to the team message board.

But if you get fed up with waiting for your team to grow you can always come and join the Pilchards instead :)

Honestly, that wasn't criticism! And it's interesting to hear everyone's opinions on how to build teams and keep them.

My team, Pearls Before Swine, is definitely a small team with 9 active members, and only 8 of those playing regularly in the team tourneys.

But my question still stands, and I can't find the answer anywhere: When does a small team become a medium team become a large team? Who determines the number in small, medium and large, does anyone know?

Hi Elle,
Sorry I've been away for awhile and didn't see your question.

I don't know where the information you are asking about is located. I know it was hashed over when the changes came about but I can't remember the thresholds.

My guess is that you will find the answer here:

Disclaimer: This is NOT criticism!

Wsm, when I think of "drift," I think of "adrift." Remember -- drifting works both ways. People who drift in can also just drift out and off one day. Not that there is anything wrong with that, mind you, if that's what you are looking for in a team, and it's the diversity that makes it all so interesting.

If I had to come up with only three words to describe my team, they would be "loyal," "diverse" and "kind." I love my team, and I personally think that's a great blend. We support one another, we have a great time, and that diversity really comes in handy in the team tourneys.

Had you played on a team before you started your team, Wsm?

Thanks for that link, RJ. I haven't found the answer yet, but mostly, I'm just curious.

Sincere best wishes in putting your very own small team together! You are so close to being there! It will be loads of fun to compete against you! Don't give up -- you will find the right players, or they will find you.

Hi Blackdress. You know when you go into 'what's new' before you click onto 'blogs'. You get the FunTrivia Announcement page. Go to the second page of the announcement and click onto 'TvT explained'

It says
large teams - over 100 active members.
medium teams - 30-99 active members.
small teams - up to 30 active members.

gakichan RJ - I have a friend who grew up on a horse ranch and he's now an architectural engineer. The world is a curious place. I still haven't decided whether or not to take the red or blue pill.

I still belong to the team I started, but I'm no longer the leader-I found all the responsibility took away from the fun [or something like that].

Anyway, the new team leader is a friend who used to have an account, for whatever reason closed it, then came backand opened a new one.

The Universal Protectors is a small group, too-problem is, it seemed like the majority of those who joined didn't know what they were doing and so left right away. [Technically I guess it's medium, but like I said most left soon after joining so it's small.] That's why I decided to let someone else, with the capability of visual effects, take over. (I would never leave-that's not an option in my mind.)

You know Jazzme, I keep hearing about all these responsibilities people assume as a leader and frankly I don't see it. What I see is the team leader getting the team up and running. Most of the people on here are adults and don't require a lot of hand holding. In fact, they probably would resent it. What, exactly, are these responsibilities? What am I missing?

It's a no brainer! Win win all the way. What's the worse thing that could happen? Remember, the door swings both ways.
Bla, bla, bla, and other meaningless platitudes.

You decide grasshopper ;-)

Well, Ithink mostly it was the "Recruiting Board." I'd work so hard to post what I thought was a good message, then either no one joined-or, more often than not, someone was in one day and out the next. And let's not forget that nobody's playing the team games or chatting on the message board (aside from myself, that is!) [besides all that, I now feel that I'm not "leader material".]
