I need to get a different copy of Lord of the Rings; the one I got from the local community library was defective :( [Though my sixth-grade teacher did read The Hobbit to us]
I just remembered reading "Messenger of Truth" not long ago (I still have it-the narrator did a superb job with it!)
The books from the Library for the Blind-as well as RFB&D-require special players, or else you'll think they're speaking a foreign tongue (books are available in other languages, too-but I stick to what I know and understand.) [I recently got a Digital Book Player sent to me and prefer it over the tape player; the cartridges can hold more, and the insides don't come out like the tapes do! Also, I still have a player here that needs to be sent back-the "stop" button fell inside the uni, and when it was plugged in I could have sworn I smelled burnt plastic!]

Only if I drink a whiskey, morpheus. I tend to keep away from whiskey, I dont think it agrees with me.
But sometimes, I'll have one if the need arises.

Jazz, I was wondering, does your library have a good, large selection of books?.

Which one?
Philadelphia is always getting new books (both Braille and audio)
Community library has a... I'd have to say "pathetic" selection of Braille books (though their audio selection is fairly good)

I just remembered that I like some of Jack Higgins' works (the first one I read was "Day of Reckoning")
Also like Lois Duncan's "Don't Look Behind You," Grace Chetwin's "The Riddle and the Rune," and Mercedes Lacky's novels (the last I read was "Foundation," the first book in her "Collegium" trilogy. I've also read her "Mage Wars," "Mage Storms," "Haralds of Valdamar" and "Mage Winds" trilogies.)

Ah Jazz. if you like fantasy, The best fantasy books I have read are the Robin Hobb books. What a writer, she breaks your heart.
The Farseer Trilogy..Assassin's Apprentice/Royal Assassin/Assassin's quest. Read these three first for her second trilogy is a continuation.
The Tawny Man Trilogy.....Fool's Errand/The Golden Fool/Fool's Fate.
She also wrote the Soldier Son trilogy which wasnt very good.

Another good fantasy writer is Fiona McIntosh. All her books are great, but the best one I think is 'The Quickening Trilogy'...Myrren's Gift/Blood and Memory/Bridge of Souls.

I also like Johanna Lindsey (I got "The Pursuit" from the community library, and my friend Tiffany records books she buys herself) [She also reads Frank Peretti and Ted Decker].

Now you behave, Jazz. I was just wise cracking about y'alls expose on "most loved books". Now back to the controversial stuff ;-)
Gun control or lack of it is in the hands of our elected officials.....YIKES my life just flashed before my still trembling eyes.
I will mention , in passing, I own this particular firearm and it is a beautiful thing to behold. It has a rich, highly-polished stainless-steel finish and a "Python .357" insignia engraved on the glistening chrome barrel that, to be honest, right or wrong, makes me feel invincible, as if the spirit of some long ago warrior prince were flowing through my veins urging me to be a righter of wrongs, punisher of evil.
That being said, a gun—even one as bodaciously magnificent as this—should only be used for protection.

Well Hello! What interesting and varied topics! :)
Nice to get to know another facet of y'all.
(Just thought I'd drop that y'all into play - now I'm Chill Inn thought I'd practice some 'local' lingo..... ;)
I do books, and Scotch - as against whiskey, because I can't handle Irish.....
What caught my attention was your 'Python' description RJ.
We can't (legally) own a revolver here for domestic use - I Did have Google show me how pretty it is...have grown up with guns - well rifles - and really appreciate good tooling and craftsmanship on a nice piece.
We use 303 or 22 magnum here for Varied Vermin and Other control.
Only sort of protection I could imagine would be from a mad pig. :)

How are y'all Chillin' in the Inn?
The Pilchards are Chilling well because the sea temperature is dropping now that winter and long dark nights have arrived.

Hi Stew, how's y'all? I'm sure proud to have you as a team member, that's for darn sure.
I'm just goofing around, doing a little fill in work until the ladies get this blog thingy fired up again.
Y'all don't have any mean spirited people down your way?

Hail to The Duck! :)
Chill Inn nicely thank you.
We're 'pending' Here at present. Spring has sprung, the grass has riz - the temperature has Not. lol
Have had 6 plus 20C days and 2 plus 30C in the last 6 weeks - and we appear to have switched from the land of Sweeping Plains and Drought to a Land of Flooding Rains.
La Nina has arrived and settled in nicely. :)
Hope you're nice and cosy up there in Somerset. :)

Howdy Jane, we are just cool as cucumbers in the Chill Inn. Lots of jawing going on. Speaking for my self, I can talk ten words a second with gusts up to fifty. I get so windy at times, we've taken to using a log chain instead of wind sock, down at the Chill Inn. |

Thanks RJ - It's nice being able to do nothing or if I want to get up and run around I don't have to worry about any pesky ankle-chains! ;)
We do have some mean spirited people down here - but they (and the powers that be) tend to get a little upset if we were to vent our aggression, even for our own sakes. ;)
Our constitution was brought about during a series of referendums held while Victoria was queen and they didn't seem to think we needed to have guns as a right, just for shooting critters.
Critters as it turned out can be in front, or Behind the stock.
How's your ponies? Getting cold and woolly or do you pop them inside for winter? :)
