I guess, in your case, you could chase it with a single malt. It would be sort of be like drinking a 32 oz can of Four Loko.

Maple Syrup? Milk? Double ugh. But it reminds me of a dish I saw that sounded horrible, so I will posit what is the oddest combination you have legitamately seen offered? One dish I saw was lobster tomalley with leeks and maple syrup. Another was a filet mignon covered in coffee grinds.

No surprises here; at my age, I remember everything, just so long as it didn't happen today....
It was a dark and stormy night, and I was surrounded by Longhorn borrachos ....

simon, one of our U.S. presidents favored cottage cheese and ketchup.

I must say milk and maple syrup doesn't sound appetizing to me, either.

Ketchup and cottage cheese? That does remind me of another atrocity I was served at a picnic -- Lime Jello with cottage cheese, walnuts, pimentos, and God knows what else thrown in and decorated with pineapple...

I would mention the name of the cottage-cheese-and-ketchup president but I might start on a political commentary, and I dare not.

RJ, do you even know where Sixth St. and Threadgill's are? I had the idea you took your vacays to exotic places like Muleshoe and Rising Star.

Of course I know where they are. Austin is not among my favorite places in Texas to visit. Austin is preppy central,
highest incidence per square foot of wannabe cowgirls and boys in the world. I don't care for Muleshoe that much either. I slid off the road during a white out near there and the local constable felt compelled to give me a ticket. Well, three tickets actually, the first one blew out of my hand.
Rising Star, I think is down around East Podunk, if I'm not mistaken ;-)

Austin's pretentious, but Ann Richards and Molly Ivins lived there when I did, so it's not all bad. :) Muleshoe, I know only by name. Rising Star is indeed in East Podunk, somewhere between Abilene and Waco on Hwy. 6(?).
Having beef this weekend? I could stand to chomp on a steak myself.

Thanks Wendy. Sounds like a idyllic setting for a certain type of person. Myself, I like isolation most of the time. When I need to get out there is a very large city not far away.
Do you think the lack of law enforcement has anything to do with the low crime rate? |
