So you've warned Breck about the military expertise of the Dazzler, Wonderbun and her nuclear submarine connections and me and my many talents with poisonous plants?
----------------Jabberwok
He's a short timer. He doesn't have to worry about consequences. He's been off work for a few months with a broken leg. Back to work next week for that trouble maker ;-)
We need some new talent to take his place, any ideas? *hint*
(Dazzler, Wonderbun?) Y'all have some new players? |

Jabberwok! Excellent point (pun intended) on stilettos! They're not just a fashion statement, and certainly not just for breakfast anymore!
Loch, thanks, I kind of love the new frock, too. That really is sort of a "mother" word, isn't it? I won't hold it against you, though. My mother tosses out some doozies, too, and when we all try not to snort and spew our coffee, she turns this lovely shade of purple I have never quite been able to duplicate.
My mind is open, but I refuse to ever be "politically correct" and it pains me to even type the words. That being said, here goes... !
RJ! For the love of God, man! I didn't ask you to move OUT of the lovely turret! I just asked if I could share it, and do a little reading, thinking, napping and viewing there myself! The view has to be spectular, with a different view from every window. And if I did ask you to move out, well, forget that part, I was possibly overly-excited at the prospect of walking into that room and all it entails. I even offered to dust and clean the windows, and as I said before, I don't DO windows!
I have a serious feeling I would have the same reaction walking into that room as I had the first time I walked into the Pepsi Center with seats right on the glass/ice in a playoff game against the Red Wings. I had never been that close to the ice in that mammoth building, and with every step further down, the harder I found it to breathe. Maybe it was the altitude, but I don't think so. I think it was knowing that 1/4 inch of plexiglass separated me from Peter Forsberg. And just the magnificence of that glowing rink.
If I had a turret like that, I would surely share it with anyone who would obviously appreciate it in the same way I do!

And another thing!
Let's just circle back to mistletoe, shall we? Oh, let's...
I think mistletoe should be classified as a noxious weed, right up there with leafy spurge. As a landowner, you are required to control the spread of leafy spurge on your own land, since it pays no attention to boundaries. Why does mistletoe just get to run wild? It's not just noxious (and obnoxious, might I just add,) it's also a parasite and it kills its host!
So we turn something like that into some adorable little romantic holiday symbol for love, lust, romance and playful kissing? Why not just hang a few live leeches in the doorway, or how about a few woodticks carrying Lyme disease? Or maybe the pine beetles that move from tree to tree, killing off entire forests?
Okay, I think you get my point. I still maintain if you want to eat the mistletoe, do so at your own risk. It's poisonous, as well. Leafy spurge won't kill you, but nothing else will eat it, including sheep, and good lord, they'll eat anything. Leeches, ticks and beetles are your choice, but not only do I not want to eat them, I don't want to be anywhere near them!
There now. I feel SO much better!
"And now for the weather. Tiffany?"

No! Now you went too far the other way!
I love that room. I love that remodel, at least from the outside, which is all I've seen. I want to DO that remodel, but only going up. I've remodeled the rest of my house, inside and out, including lawns and walkways and everything else I could come up with to change.
Did you work with an architect? How difficult was it to build up? Did you have to, at some point, open up the entire ceilings/roof from the first floor? It kind of looks like there may just be the turret up there, maybe a hallway/bridge, and then a HUGE bedroom, which is what I'm thinking would be heavenly. And a HUGE bathroom to go along with it. And a fireplace, but that might add a whole new pack of problems I don't want to deal with.
And since I do own my house, and still celebrate the day I paid for it, in full, two springs ago, this is SO doable! (Didn't Flopsy mention the difference between truly owning your home, and just having a huge mortgage? I own mine, but it took awhile. Most things worth having do.)
No need to feel like a puck, RJ. If I were really fired up, we'd just be having a faceoff behind the net. (This reminds me of a REALLY bad joke. Do NOT let me tell it!) Or I'd be showing you my wrap-around wrist shot I learned from Forsberg, My Little Swedish Pancake. Or that incredible slapshot I learned from Ray Bourque the year he played with us before retirement so he could win the Cup.
Let's put our heads together and figure this out. I am so far from you, no one would ever need to know I totally copied you!
~Elle, being really nice right now

While I'm in the challenging mood. How about the PBSwiners vs. the Chillers in either the team or heroes game or better yet in both games ;-)

Well... as much as I love a good match, "Roman History" doesn't seem to be our best topic, and with 6 players having already played, we only have 1 or 2 who may or may not still play. You're already WAY up there in the standings.
It says we have 9 active members, but one of those members only plays in the weekly KO tourny, so we really only have 8 active players.
It's not looking good in TvT right now, either.
How about another day to be set in the future when the day isn't already half over? And maybe a topic that isn't so... wonky.

I'm sorry Elle, I didn't explain myself very well. I meant the challenge would last for 30 days beginning whenever we decide. What do you think?

That sounds like fun, RJ.
Let me run it by my team, okay, so they know we're competing against you?
You pick the timeline and I'll pass it along. If you want it to start this month, four days into it, I suppose that works. Or this could just be our "warmup month" for next month, since we're already a tad behind. We have players who lose their DSL, phone and satellite connections during these happy winter months (me, with so far about 10 days in November, December and January so far)) and a few who travel and don't have computer access at those times, but if we know we're up against the wall, we're definitely up for the challenge.
Just let me know when the challenge is, and I'll run it by my team. I'm sure they'll love it! We're all about having fun and taking scalps! I mean, having fun and taking photos of all that fun! Disregard the scalps, that was a slip of my "nonPC fingers." Sorry!
Disclaimer! I have never seen nor taken a scalp in my life! (Sheesh)

Things I Have Learned So Far This Year:
1) Anyone who says there is no discernible difference between -20 degrees and -30 degrees has never experienced -30 degrees. (We're talking Fahrenheit, here)
2) It can snow like mad, and there can still be thunder and lightening! Apparently, this is called "Thunder Snow" and I had no clue it existed. I was so excited, I called my Mom and she didn't believe, it either! Thanks, Mom!
3) I live in a technological vortex where anything that can go wrong, or down, will go wrong, or down. Oh wait, I already knew that, but it seems to be worse this year. But I also have deer in my front yard and a herd of elk one "block" away, and I can throw a rock and hit this side of the Rockies, so I'm okay with that tradeoff. The Rockies equals the mountains, not the baseball team. I don't recommend throwing rocks at them. Rumor has it, they throw back.
4) I live on the wrong side of the Rockies, which probably explains most of the above. While the "Front Range" is lovely, the weather is completely different on the "Western Slope.
5) I miss Montana.
6) If you try to carry in more wood to the house than you probably weigh, it can and will fall to the floor. What you do with it from there is up to you. I'm letting my kitties sniff it and play with it. I've decided to call this "Fun" and not "Yow, what a big old mess to clean up."
7) While Silver Maple is a lovely wood, it burns hot and fast. Aspen is better, much denser, and burns more slowly, but I'm out of aspen from the tree that snapped in half last year during a microburst, almost taking out my car and the gutters on my garage. It was that close. If it had blown and fallen the other way, since 20 feet of aspen snapped off like a matchstick, it could have taken out part of my cedar fence and two of the neighbor's vehicles.
8) Peach is a gorgeous wood that is very dense and burns very slowly and gives off a lovely aroma, but sadly, I had to actually kill my peach tree in order to be burning it now.
9) Never mess with Mother Nature. (See #8 above). And I wouldn't be messing with Texas, either.
10) Cedar is so far the most aromatic and pleasant of woods I have found to burn, and since I only burn wood that comes out of my own yards, I'm slightly limited to what needs to be trimmed every year, what I manage to kill, and what dies on its own from winter kill or coming out of a 10-year drought. I've only single-handedly killed one tree. I meant no harm.
11) Who KNEW they make an electric chainsaw! So handy for cutting up those trees and limbs for firewood! Sure, you're a tad limited by the POWER CORD, but the box makes a really fun toy for the kitties! But since I am right on the cusp of being in the city limits, my guess is, no one would really appreciate a "real" chainsaw very much. I'm not taking any chances. And everyone knows that when your chainsaw fails on you, and it WILL fail on you, you just toss it as far as you can into the woods. I'm thinking maybe this tiny little baby "toy" chainsaw won't give me any trouble. Wishful thinking!

All the things you mentioned are true for my team as well. This is just for fun and a way to make it a little more personal and fun. We're already playing those games each day so why not juice it up a little. We can use this blog to get the teams together and do some "smack talking" or excuse making. It's all in fun and a chance to get to know each other a little bit better, especially if the teams come here to chat.
We can start tomorrow and just let Fun trivia keep the scoring. Oh, and no scalps will be taken from the "too cool for school" Chillers but we might get us some pork rinds. And so it begins ;-) |

Let's do both, TvT and Heroes. I'll run it by my team, but I do think they will think this is fun. I hope so, anyway. It sound like fun to me.
Let's also use January as our "practice month" since we're four days into January, and I know I've already missed a danged day. And then February we'll all be in prime condition and the gloves can come off.
Also, I will need to leave a breadcrumb trail for my team to this blog, and if you're okay with "trash-talking," just remember, you said it first!
I'll get everything posted on our team MB tonight so everyone will know about it by tomorrow. And no scalps will be taken, and no animals will be hurt by this competition.
Does that work for you?

"Smack talking," not "trash talking." My mistake!
My team is very well-mannered and we are always polite, pinky fingers raised while sipping our tea.

If only I could coax (uh, wrong word) more Ninjas to play [the most I've noticed, including me, is 2-pittiful given we're at 17 active], I'd join inhe the fun!
Disregard the number of total members-the system says we have 62, but like I said, only 17 active [and of those, five or six log in on a daily basis-it's anybody's guess what they're doing if not playing the team games]
Speaking of which, any suggestions? [How do I get more to play the team games]
