Following a very popular thread started by Gillimalta on 139 Class Board which ceased to exist I´ve decided to continue.

The rules are simple. I think I am someone and you ask some yes/no questions. The one who has the right guess is "it" and can continue.

So, who the heck am I?

I was from the mainland of Europe, rather than the UK, although I did do some notable work there. I did some work for Kaiser Wilhelm as well.

I was born 3 years after Faulds.

I died in Monte Carlo.

No not William Golding, who was actually my English master whilst at Grammar School in the late 1950's, well before he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. He was nicknamed "Scruff" by us schoolboys owing to his unkempt appearance.
