lol, sorry, Upstart. There is very limited information on this guy, Upstart. His website has an Alexa ranking of 4,920.
His site is a real knockout, that's for sure. It's also huge; a monster! The daily games aren't a piece of cake; some can be quite hard.
So, who am I?

You are sneaky!
I'm someone who isn't real.
I'm a metaphor if you will for some odd human behaviour.
Specially linked to one writer, though others have referred to me.

No, I'm a mythological type being, rather than a human.

Mythological, like, say, the Hobbit?

Yes - that type of thing, like a demon or an elf.

I don't have a name, so I am known as
The + (mythological creature) + (some other words)

Not knowing much about these kinds of mythological creatures, I'll have to guess...
Boggart?

Not a lot of help to you, perhaps, but there was a British car named after this type of thing in the 60s.

That might.
Wasn't there a car called a Gremlin?
Though, I can't think if a specific gremlin that fits the criteria. Or is it just a general creature you're looking for?

It's not a gremlin. The car was also called a Husky.
If it were a gremlin, which it isn't, the name I am looking for is something like
The Gremlin of something or other.

Aha, I was wanting to say Imp earlier, but couldn't think of how it worked.
Now, I got it. Is it Imp of the Perverse?

Yes, The Imp of the Perverse.
My next clue was going to be about that terrible TV series with poor Kevin Bacon.
Now who the heck are you?

Ooh, that Kevin Bacon show, blah.
Anyway, I am a deceased British female who was born in the 19th century.
