I served two years in the US Navy.
I worked at Boeing for two years as a technical writer and drew on my experiences there for some of my fiction.
I have avoided contact with reporters for over forty years.
The Pulitzer judges unanimously voted that I should get a prize in the seventies, but they were overruled by their advisory board.

Thanks honeybee - Thomas Pynchon it is. I never expected him to be in The Simpsons. Marge Simpson asked him for some blurb for a book and he said: "Here's your quote: 'Thomas Pynchon loved this book, almost as much as he loves cameras!'". I thought it was funny anyhow.
