Welcome to the board nitram ....
Is your style rock, country or popular music?
Wild guess Barry Manilow?

Not Barry Manilow. My music contains elements of country, rock, blues & folk. As far as popular, not in the sense of pop music but he has achieved popularity in the music industry among his peers.

Were you born before 1965? And do you play any instruments as well as/during your singing?

Yes, before the official rock n roll era was born actually. I play the piano & the guitar (not at the same time) often while I'm singing. Also been known to play the harmonica quite well.

I thought the harmonica would lead someone to Dylan but no, not him. Altough I've never charted a top 40 single myself, I've probably had more of my songs covered for hits than any other artist.

I fear I'm being too obtuse about this artist being that he's my all time favorite male artist. He's not as well known as he should be & that's a shame. Some of the artists who've covered & had hits with his songs are Suzy Bogguss, Three Dog Night, Jeff Healy Band, Paula Abdul, Gregg Allman,Asleep At The Wheel, Joan Baez, The Band, Jimmy Buffett, Rosanne Cash, & Bonnie Raitt. Too many more to mention.

He's from the same town as David Letterman & his 21st album is due out in a few weeks.

Danke Schoen, but no not Wayne Newton.
The most mainstream attention this artist probably got was when he wrote & performed the entire soundtrack based on a fictional ursine family. Also toured with the famous ex-husband of an actress from Smyrna, Georgia(USA).

I didn't think you were being "obtuse" at all! (but maybe I was lol). How about John Hiatt?

How about John Hiatt! I've seen him 4 times in concert, once was a solo acoustic show in a converted church, once with a full band with Robert Cray opening, an outdoor lawn show as part of a blues fest, & in an old movie theater w/N.Mississippi All-Stars. That last one was probably the best concert I ever saw. I was in the 3rd row, the emotion in his face & voice was palpable. A true musical genius.
No I'm not his PR agent just never gets old listening to him. That was kind of fun!
Your're up next. I'm turning in for the night.
