cubs - Belichick is going to get fined much more than 10k I would think. Today the NFL handed out fines to John Fox and Jack Del Rio of 30k and 25k respectively for "arguing" with officials. Making physical contact should be much higher than that...50? That'd be my guess.

Well if the end of that Pack/Hawks game doesn't get the refs and NFL to get over themselves and get a deal done, nothing will. That was ridiculous on all aspects.

Yeah it was pretty obvious he didn't have the ball when his feet hit the ground. Absurd that it wasn't overturned.

I thought that was what replay was for...to correct a bad call...I guess I lost my penny...the Packers offensive front line was pretty offensive the first half...8 sacks on their QB...but in the end, they lost the game because of a very bad call...maybe now something will get done.

That was pretty bad. Although as a Vikes fan, I'll keep my complaining down to a low whisper.

Even I have to admit that the Packers were robbed.

Gotta say I'm loving the failure that is Michael Vick. The Eagles are 2-1 but just barely and the two wins came despite his performance, not because of it. I love how, every year, tons of people pick the Eagles to win the NFC (including the team themselves) and these prima donnas NEVER get it done. Seems to me they'd rather look good and lose than win ugly. Here's hoping they lose ugly the rest of the way.

haha have to say I'm with ya Greatguggly. The sad thing is that Andy Reid will likely pay the price if they don't make the playoffs this year. Maybe it is him, but I don't think it is. They've put together a team of individuals, not team players.

That's exactly right, pyonir. And I agree with you about Reid. He adds the team's only touch of class.

It's not when they feet hit the ground. It's when the "play" is over. Remember the Calvin Johnson play vs. the Bears last year? (With REGULAR refs I'd like to add!) It's NOT enough to have the ball and two feet down, even if it's in the endzone. Both players had possession of the ball. The GB guy MIGHT have had "stronger" possession, but in a dual possession situation, the tie goes to the offense. That's essentially what was called. The GB guy didn't wrest it from Seattle's WR's grasp enough. Seahawks win.
Still, the NFL needs to end the lockout of the refs.

I'm sure as some folks may know. Yep, I'm a Bears fan! Still, the call was right. The pushoff should have been called while live. That's not reviewable.

The call was not correct on the field, and it's been backed up by numerous former officials (including an official that was formerly the head of NFL officiating) along with just about everyone else I've read or heard. It didn't qualify as a simultaneous catch, in that the GB player had possession of the ball against his body. The Seattle player did not have any of the ball against his body, only his hands on the football.
The call should have been reversed during the replay process as the booth review official (who is not a replacement) should have informed the on field official of the error in his understanding of the simultaneous catch rule (and the simultaneous catch rule is reviewable if it occurs in the end zone).
The NFL's statement was carefully constructed to not say the ruling on the field was incorrect. Only that there was not "indisputable" video evidence to overturn it, even though numerous retired officials have said the video evidence was more than sufficient.

I just read that the Redskins signed Ryan Grant, former GB RB. Early in his career, I thought Grant would be a star. I guess injuries have sidetracked that but I still think he's a nice addition. People are saying we didn't RBs but Roy Helu is out for the season. Add him to the list, we've lost Brian Orakpo (who I think is overrated) and Carriker for the season also.

Just heard on ESPN that the 'real' refs may be back for this weekend. Cross your fingers.
