Well, this won't be filled with profound insights and I'm not as good at humor as I'd like to be, but I miss my old blog - and the opportunity to chat with YOU! So....here I am. More to follow; just saying hi for now.

lesley153 Precious sleep. Six hours sounds good.

At 7:30 on a Sunday morning, nothing louder than breathing is an acceptable activity. Boo hiss scummy neighbours.

veronikkamarrz Nice work, Beth. Glad to hear you still have "Alice" as she could be handy! Are the boys staying out from under your feet? :)

Bubba is snoring on the loveseat (next to my computer chair), with one paw over his eyes...and Rocky is snoozing on my bed. Rocky doesn't usually start his nightly yodeling session until about 10:30 or 11pm.

lesley153 Half the words in a third of the time? Brilliant!

And that's a good answer to my question about a Happy Dance that doesn't make you fall over: get someone else to dance for you. Like it. :)

(Lesley, Bubba was not thrilled to do my dance for me, but oh well, it worked!)

Doctors - OY! Sleep study people said if I don't sleep 6 hours straight through, the test is invalid. Um...I sleep 4 - 5 hours a night. They said ask the doctor who ordered the study for a sleep aid. So I called neuro's office. You'd think I was asking them for a month's supply of some weird street drug! "And your general practitioner can't help you with that?" Um...he probably could, but sleep center said to call doc who ordered the study. "Well, I'll ask him and call you back some time today." *Headdesk!*

I am very sad tonight. When my daughter was in high school, I got her a cello on a rent-to-own plan. Paid money I couldn't afford every single month until finally it was hers. Along the way, it got battered and even had a hole in it, but was very much loved. Then a couple of years ago, she bought a new cello. I thought she'd traded in the old one as some sort of down payment. Turns out she gave it to her brother-in-law. Tonight, he and his sister posted pictures on Facebook of the cello (which I paid for) being broken into pieces with a sledge hammer and then burned in a fire.

Yes, it was hers to do what she wanted with - so why do I feel so terrible? (And why couldn't they have just hidden the pictures from my view? Facebook has a function to enable you to do that!) At the very least, it would've been nice to have been warned...

To make matters worse, I just found out that my daughter was present at the bonfire where this destruction took place.

lesley153 "so why do I feel so terrible?"

Anyone would. It's like throwing all your efforts, and privation, back in your face. It's possible that your daughter felt the same but couldn't really do anything to stop them. You hope people will treat precious things with the same love and respect as you did, but they often disappoint us.

Where my bro lives, the council collect recycling, including glass. Last time I was there, I saw a serving bowl and four individual ones, waiting to be collected. They were used for fruit salad when I was a child. What are they doing there? why didn't they offer them to me? They're a ginger brown thick glass, and I never really liked them, but that didn't stop me bristling and taking them home. The big one is now a fruit bowl where nobody will see it, but the four small ones are exactly where I left them 18 months ago.

It's not the same as the cello at all. I didn't scrimp and go without to buy them. It was just seeing someone else throwing away a tiny bit of my childhood.

Thank you, Lesley. I was really wondering if I was being over-sensitive. Yes, the cello was 2 decades old and had holes in it, but it could have been donated somewhere, fixed up a bit and given to a child somewhere who'd have been happy to have any cello at all. Or...I could have had it as a memento. To be honest, I did think the cello was already long gone (maybe as a trade-in on the new one she bought), but it really hurt to see it that way. My daughter did say she was sorry and that she loves me (and I know that she does). This will pass. But I accidentally ran into those photos again this morning...and they still made me cry.

But I shall pick myself up by my bootstraps and move onward! I have a mini-writing marathon/contest with a dear Facebook friend this afternoon and must get myself properly caffeinated for the challenge. She can type faster than I do, but I think I can create faster...be interesting to see who wins! :)

lesley153 Over-sensitive? I don't think so. Some of us think of musical instruments in the same way that we think of books: and others haven't got a clue. I've been in houses where the only reading material was an old book of fiction, a telephone directory, and a rose catalogue, and wouldn't want to live in one.

Nothing wrong with old things! Many old things can be mended - sprog's 200-year-old violin: me ...: but not everything.

Happy writing. :)

I am home from the sleep study. I wish I could have Ambien every night! (A lot of MS patients are on it long-term, as sleep seems to be a common problem.) I do NOT have sleep apnea or too-shallow breathing. Had both REM and non-REM sleep. Still only slept 5 hours, woke, then slept a little more, but with the Ambien, I could fall asleep in minutes instead of hours.

Also texted and spoke with my daughter last night. I didn't mention the cello incident, as she has already apologized. We are going to be okay. :)

veronikkamarrz I was given Ambien and Lunesta (samples) and both kicked my butt! I remember having nightmares...and not much else! Switched to Xanax, and have had no problem.

I took Ambien for a couple of months after my heart surgery. I loved the way it put me to sleep right away. I sleep OK now except when there is a full moon.

Doctors in this town are very persnickety about prescriptions ever since a 'Doctor Feel-Good' type was arrested a few years back. :(

My legs hurt pretty badly tonight. Not sure if it's because I was out and about last night and this morning with this sleep study and then out again this afternoon for an appointment, but I have taken my meds and still can barely move. I wish I knew what was 'normal' MS pain (that I must learn to deal with) and what necessitates a call to the neuro. In any case, he is not in his office on Thursdays, so at least I have an Ambien left to help me fall asleep tonight.
