Well, this won't be filled with profound insights and I'm not as good at humor as I'd like to be, but I miss my old blog - and the opportunity to chat with YOU! So....here I am. More to follow; just saying hi for now.

lesley153 I'm sure the "boys" are fine. 'Nother post written by Beth's daughter:

Would like everyone to know that the only thing worse than eating orange jello while lying down is eating yellow jello while lying down. ;)

Sounds like progress Lesley.

I wonder if it's a step up to progress to green? *grin*

lesley153 Looks like it, MH. :)

Latest, posted in the last hour:

" Mom was able to get out of bed today. She said it hurt a lot, but she's handling it like a trooper. "

Amazing, Beth.

lesley153 Posted ten hours ago, a minute after I went to bed!

My mother is doing well today. She started physical therapy and has been working on standing up for short periods of time and sitting in chairs. She says to say hi to everyone.

lesley153 Hot off the press:

" My mother would like everyone to play guess what her lunch was. :) "

In the picture are salad, cheese quesadillas with sour cream, Mountian Dew and coffee.

That's not typical hospital food - is it?

lesley153 " She says to tell you that the white cup was a vanilla malt, not coffee. ;) "

" She hasn't had coffee since before she went into the hospital. "

" She is still having Mountain Dew though. "

lesley153 Today Beth's daughter has posted pictures of three meals, and invited us to play guess the food.

One is breakfast, and it may be a pile of pancakes, and that may be half a slice of orange, but nobody seems to know. One looks like a tube of ranch dressing on a salad, and is that a chip I see peeping out? The third one has been identified as a baked potato with mystery veg and mystery meat.

Looks like hospital food is the same all over the world.

Mouth-watering stuff. That baked potato with mysteries has my vote for the taste sensation.

Love and best wishes to Beth for fast mending.

lesley153 Tobyone, I'm sure you've seen the other guesses:

Here are some of them:
- french toast AND some kind of pancake (blueberry??)
- fried fish with crab sticks
- I think the "thing" in the back is bacon but that LUMP up front is very suspect!
... and that's just the breakfast.

Stabs at identifying the mystery meal include
- Potato, Mystery meat and..... bread
- two slices of insulation and a heaping helping of runway foam with applicable condiments
(washed down by two cans of Mountain Dew)

lesley153 Beth has posted! Yippee!

About food, of course. The mystery meal that came with sour cream and A1 steak sauce.

This is actually my favorite hospital meal. (They also have a version at the hospital here in my hometown.) It is SO much more delicious than it looks! I had this FOUR times during this hospital stay! It was a Beef Tenderloin sandwich. YUMMM!!

lesley153 And she has also identified the breakfast:

_______________________________________

Was debating whether i wanted a chery-filled or applie-filled crepe...and she asked "How about one of each?" I thought she meant one of each of the two cfrepes - but ended up with french toast, a blueberry pancake, bacon AND the crepes! (Was a little full after that!)'

Hi All! Yes, I am out of the hospital. At my mom's for a few days until the pain lessens at least a little bit and I can navigate through my house dependably and safely. Am on some major-serious pain meds, so please forgive the spelling errors. Will not be on the computer much at all for these first few days, but wanted to say hello and that i miss everyone terribly. ((((HUGS!))))

Yes, I am home now. Left the hospital for Mom's house on Monday morning and came home yesterday. Thank you, Lesley, for keeping everyone so well-informed; I truly appreciate it.

Surprisingly, even with a HUGE incision and many, many staples in my back, it already feels SO much better than last week, when the loosened hardware was causing such intense pain! Now if we could just get the insane little man to stop slicing at my front mid-section with a rusty old ax! (Seems like my innards did not appreciate being moved - and held - to the side for the sake of fixing my spine!)

Am wearing my brace like a good, obedient patient, but am finding I do not need to use my walker to get around the house, after all! (Have not ventured out of house yet, except to sit on bench directly in front today to enjoy the summer-like weather for a bit.) The docs have finally found a combo of meds that - for the most part - keep the pain under control. I slept 11 hours last night! Of course, that meant waking up with absolutely no pain meds in my system, but the extra rest was so worth an hour of the pain! Am taking long naps too; sometimes several a day. And starting next week, they will be sending a Physical Therapist to my house to work with me - and a visiting nurse to check on my incisions and make sure things are healing properly.

Life is good. :)
