He won a Tony as did the play when it was taken from London to Broadway.
Most of the cast went with it from the West End to Broadway to movie.

I was going to give the hint that the movie was much more "rustic" than the musicality of Cole Porter, but it seems M-Kat has been channeling HoneyBee lol as "Paint Your Wagon" is correct!
