Nope neither of those, but the leading actors are the same as in The Odd Couple. Oh and it wasn't Neil Simon who wrote the original play.
One more hint: the stage play has been adapted to the silver screen 4 times; two of the versions changed one of the male lead characters to a female, also using another title.
I'm looking for the accurate adaptation from the 70s.

It was released before 2000. It would be considered a comedy with romance an another genre thrown in. It won an oscar for best song and it was a sequel.
