It didn't win but it was nominated for Best Music.
None of the actors were nominated for an Academy award.

It's not a true story, so was it based on a novel or a play?
Is a crime an essential part of the plot?

It's not "Rocky".
It was based on a novel by T.H. White. The novel was a stand alone until it was later published as part of "The Once and Future King".
