the title does indeed contain the name of a character
it is a comedy/drama (if it weren't for the last 15 minutes or so , it would likly be labelled a straight comedy)
it was made in 1955

YES IT IS "MR. ROBERTS"
I love the last scene when Ensign Pulver storms into The Captain's quarters (after Mr Roberts has died) and says to the skipper:"It is me , Ensign Pulver,now what's all this crap about no movies tonight"?
And The Captains wail of a response can be heard:"AAAAAAGH"!
