Salami: not Airplane! I won some awards (but they weren't Oscars). I was also nominated for two Oscars, but did not win.
Daver: There is (triple) revenge in this movie, but I'm not Revenge of the Nerds.
Paul: I was not released prior to 1985.

As I have absolutely no idea, I will randomly say Heathers, as it appears that has a bit of revenge based on the movie description.

Sorry to be away so long; had to go to my sister's for dinner. This is perhaps a bit of an obscure movie, so I'll give more hints. British movie, made between 2000 and 2010. Stars two fairly famous actors/actresses, and is a real tearjerker. Almost made me cry (of course, being a man, I wouldn't admit it if it did make me cry).

I don't know when The English Patient was made but it made me cry to have paid $12 bucks to see it...even my wife hated it

Awwwww, I liked English Patient. Didn't make me cry though, so I'll guess "Big Fish"

or perhaps "The Constant Gardener" (I've tried to watch that one 3 times and have had to leave the room everytime to go get tissues. Not sure I've ever seen the complete movie lol)

sure you did...it's a "chick flick" :-)
my wife was, I think, the exception to the rule on this one, but she needs a six pack of tissues to watch Love Story

Ick. I most certainly did not cry during "love story". Hated it, actually.

However, I did sniffle (only once) at "Neverland". Could that be the one Daver is looking for?

None of the above. Many of my lady friends consider the male lead in this film to be quite a "hunk."

No guesses? All right, another clue. The father of the actress who plays the leading role is a famous author.
