Honeybee, shame on you for even knowing who John Wilmot, 2nd Earl Of Rochester is! Having said that, I'll venture a guess: "My Fair Lady?"

Not East Of Eden. In 1995 it was selected for a special award.

No, Daver, not My Fair Lady. The last clue I gave will take you straight to the answer.

I found one of the Earls poems I think you are talking about and I am ashamed for myself. LOL. I assure you the one that the title of this movie may have come from is short and absolutely nothing like the one you are talking about.

Actually, Rochester repented his dissolute life on his deathbed and became a devout Christian, but he's not much remembered for that, since he wrote such wonderfully filthy poetry. The non-X rated ones weren't nearly as good, and the only one that I can think of that might have inspired a film title is "All That Heaven Allows."

Yes, Daver, it is from his poem "Love And Life" a very tame poem for him. Your turn.

Okay, let's see what I can come up with. American film, B&W, pre-WWII, comedy.

No. Is that a Little Rascals movie? They aren't in this film, one of the funniest ever.

Is it a Marx Bros. flick?
A Night at the Opera, perhaps

Neither of those films, but, yes, the great William Claude puts in an appearance.
