It is set in the fairly distant past. The male lead's hair was kind of floppy, I guess.

Not Shakespeare in Love. Yes, a famous real historical figure appears in the movie. But it is not a historically accurate movie.

Scrub that - hardly a "romantic comedy-drama."

Nope. This should give it to you: the male lead in the movie is now deceased.

Jakeroo, we must be soul mates! Yes, "A Knight's Tale." A very silly, but very entertaining movie! Isn't Rufus Sewell the best villain ever? "Then he shows a weakness, for that's what mercy is." Your turn.

I LOVE Rufus. Almost more than Heath (tough call though, giggles) I also thought "A Knight's Tale" was worth 4 pops out of 5 for popcorn for pure entertainment value (yes I know there are more "lofty" thought-intensive movies, but sometimes you just want to watch things for "fun" LOL).
Okay (wiping drool off my lips lol). Not to get TOO far from "comedy", I am a movie from the 1950's.

Yes, it is in black and white. Appropriate, since it's a dark comedy/drama.
Not the Girl Can't Help It. This one's not a musical, but it DID have a good looking blonde female lead.

I take back my last guess. It's not All About Eve.
Can the movie be classified as a romantic comedy?
