Live action movie. The director of this movie has the same name as a famous author minus the middle name. There are only 2 famous names of note in this movie. One is best known for something other than film acting.

Wow! That was quick, I guess I should give vaguer clues. Mako & David H artman better known for Good Morning America were the 2 names. 1974 was the year & I have never seen it on TV anywhere. You're up, I'm done for the night.
