I was looking for Sherlock's website Science of Deduction, which I found, but among Google results there was a quiz about Sherlock's cases. Have been playing ever since :)

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Manjari97 I was looking for quizzes on Greek Mythology. I had just read Percy Jackson and was really interested in Greek Mythology. I love fun trivia!

I played several private tournaments that were posted on various chat boards. Eventually, I clicked to the main site, and was sucked in :-)

lesley153 Watched an episode of Loose Women, got annoyed with the way they handled one of their items, googled the programme to see if anyone else had the same thoughts, and found myself in a forum. One of the members ran a private tournament, which I played for a few years, till I got brave enough to wonder what lay behind the tournament page. Three years later, I was in the main site. I think it's called the scenic route.

I was looking for information on one of my favourite writers - Jane Duncan - and found there was a quiz about her ! That was several years ago, and I haven't gone home yet.

I didn't find FunTrivia. It found me. I'm serious about this. It just fell into my lap one day.

callie_ross It was kind of weird how I found this website! I was watching an old movie starring Farrah Fawcett called "The Burning Bed" in which she plays an abused wife which is based on a true story. After the movie, I decided to look up some information on the actual people that this movie was about, so I went on Google. One of the Funtrivia members had made a quiz about this movie & the link to it came up during my search. I decided to check out this quiz, then the website. I liked what I saw & became a member! :)

Shiningstar7 A friend invited me to play in a private tournament, then I came to the main site and became a member here, almost 5 years ago! Have been loyal ever since.

Same as little lady, day one with home internet and wanted to mop up all the trivia I hadn't yet found in the library. I'd guess this site comes top of the list now as it did then. I suppose you can call that the direct route.

purelyqing I was bored so I thought of doing those personality quizzes to amuse myself. The kind where they ask you questions and give you a result at the end like "your colour is pink" or something silly like that. I googled quizzes and found FunTrivia. I played a little and decided it was better than those nonsensical personality quizzes and I have stayed ever since. Close to 5 years now.

I used to play on a site called 'Trivia Free For All', but it closed down. I can't actually remember how I found FT but imagine it was by googling. I soon found some former TFFA players here as well, who formed the basis of the team I belong to.

I was online and had played several very poor quizzes on my favourite book series, "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. I really didn't like the format (multiple-choice questions where you write down your answers and then scroll down the page for the correct ones). I wanted something more interactive (I think I may have Googled something along the lines of "interactive quizzes" and "Outlander"). That was December 2000 and I have more-or-less been addicted to the site ever since. There were a few years in the middle where I wasn't very active on the main site, but during that time I was still running a private tournament of my own.

SisterSeagull I was playing a private tournament on an Army Old Comrades forum, clicked on the home tab one day and have been here every day since!

Do you know, it was the Pope's shoes that led me to discover FunTrivia? Seriously!

We had not had our computer for very long when a friend phoned us to say that her son's teacher had assigned homework that required the children to use the internet to find out the answers to a list of questions. The questions were devised so that the answers could not be found by using the books in the library - you had to use the internet. My friend was very poor and did not have a computer, so she asked if her son could come around to use ours to do his homework and could I help him? Well, one of the questions he had to research was "What colour shoes does the Pope wear?" We googled the question and it led us to "Ask FunTrivia". And the rest, as they say, is history.

I've think I've visited FunTrivia almost every day since, with the exception of times when my computer was in the repair shop or when we were travelling. At first I only played quizzes. It took me a very long time, possibly a year or so, before I ventured into the forums. And I’ve only been visiting the chat rooms relatively recently. FunTrivia has grown a lot in those years. When I first joined FT, the chat rooms didn’t exist and neither did the Fun Facts section. There were lots of quizzes, but no global challenge, or special quizzes like the bus ride. No badges, challenges, teams or gold membership. These are all things that have been added one by one over the years. Terry has ensured that this site will never be dull or boring.
