The first thing I did was create special photo albums for both my dog, Hazel, and my cat, Chloe. I also have
t-shirts with their photos on.
The other thing I did was publish memorials for them on the pet memorial website "Faithful Friends".

Nothing. Just talking about them sometimes, reminiscing things they used to do.

I ended up relieving Jam from her pain last August. It took this long for me to be able to post her "obituary." I buried her in my back yard near the gate where she loved to stand and watch what was going on (usually nothing). I marked her grave with a marble slab which I hope to engrave at some point. I talk to her most every day. I still feel her presence. When I push the lawn mower by her grave I feel her with me, as she loved to watch me cut grass (mostly because I would carry the clipping to the woods behind my house and she loved walking back there).
Funny thing happened not long after she left this world. I had put up all her toys in her toy box and moved it to an unused room in the house. I then went and sat down on the couch. I looked up and her last favorite toy was on the floor under my stereo shelving near where her toy box had been. I know I picked that toy up. 13 month later...it is still there. She must have wanted me to leave that toy out for her.

Our deceased cats were cremated and we have their ashes in an urn. We have pawprints from each cat, and some fur tied with ribbon. We also made donations in our cats' names to the university to support research for feline health.

A dog is a bundle of cute puppy fur
Who pees on the carpet and tugs on your hair
Who chews on your fingers with razor sharp teeth
Then curls up in your arms as she drops off to sleep
A dog is frustration, won't sit stay or come
Who rolls on her back and says, tickle my tum
Who covers your clothing with fluff and with hair
And spends all the evening in your favourite chair
A dog is your comfort when life goes awry
Always there for a cuddle if you need a cry
Always ready to listen when life is too grim
Or to come for a play with a wag and a grin
A dog is pure heartbreak when she goes, as she must
Leaving you lonely, your life turned to dust
But leaving you memories of all yu have gained
That help you to smile through the grief and the pain
A dog is love

I have a Memorial Shelf, with two little canisters of ashes and their favorite toys on it. On either side of the shelf: a framed photo collage to remember each of them.

I keep the memories of my cats that I had in the past by talking about the things they did.

I have a silk tree (Mimosa) that began growing at the gate when my dog of 13 years passed last year, it reminds me of her and was a blessing to me, as I love those trees from China.

I had an 18"x24" pastel portrait done of my cat, Hugo. He lived to be 17 and died about 7 years ago. I still mis him.

The animals I've lost I've had cremated and are in one of my display cases. One that I recently had to have put down also has a clay heart with her paw print that the vet did. I have pictures, and memories.

Today (february 8th) marks two years since my dog, Hazel, passed away. I have her ashes in a pretty wooden box on top of the sterio in my lounge box. The box lid displays a photo of my doggy & is decorated with a little orange artificial flower.

The year our first dog died we found a Christmas ornament of a golden retriever that looked just like him. The kicker was that it was lying on a stuffed bed made of the exact same material as our dog's bed! That's our little memorial to him.

Patches was a stray cat that befriended me a few years ago. She died on my kitchen floor in December, 2010.
She is buried in the back yard with a little grave marker and Angel to watch over her.
