Peter Falk was one of my favorite actors. Loved his Columbo character best! I'll miss him.

HannahConner88 Peter Falk played the Grandpa in the movie adaptation of my favorite book; The Princess Bride. I will always think of him as Grandpa because of that role.

Grandson: "Maybe you could come over and read it again to me tomorrow."
Grandpa: "As you wish."

He will be missed.

There's a thread on the movies board about underrated actors. Peter Falk fell into that category. The man was a fine actor, on stage and in film and television. RIP, Mr. Falk.

He will be sorely missed. I am a Columbo fan through and through. He was also good in his film roles. "Murder Inc.", and "The Castle Keep" come to mind. He was a talent.

I worked with a couple of actors who had worked with Halk and they both saud that he was one of the kindest men they'd ever met, always willing to support his fellow cast members rather than grabbing the spotlight. One of them said that if it hadn't been for Peter Falk he would have turned tail and fled Hollywood (he said it wasn't called Tinsel Town for nothing. He said Gertrude Stein was right when she was asked what it was like there and replied "There is no there there!") Falk was such a good mentor he couldn't pass up the chance to continue working with him because he learned so much from him. All the really great actors are like Peter Falk, willing to share the spotlight and treating cast and crew members well. It's the Prima Donnas who give actors a bad name.

I had been told that Mr. Falk was not only a great actor, but a wonderful person, too. Cym just confirmed that, yet again!

Very sad news. The Princess Bride is also one of my favourite films but he was in so many movies and tv programs before Columbo. It's great that he lived until he was 83 and he'll be sadly missed. RIP Peter, hope there was a cigar waiting for you.

MrHulot_ I'm very saddened by the news, he's one of my favorite actors. Columbo is one of my favorite TV shows. My favorite film role of his is his performance in the 1987 German film Wings of Desire. I highly recommend everybody watch it,such a beautiful film.
