Welcome, all! Sit down on one of the couches, or pull up a chair: itâ??s all about comfort in my little place. Some of the furnishings have yet to be installed, but itâ??s still nice and comfortable :)

Music, food, games, talk--whatever you want :))

Morning, Daymare.

I said much the same thing to Mom the other day:
"Aren't relatives fun?"
Today it becomes "aren't families fun?"
Heavy on the sarcasm

tiepolo "Oops hope you realised I meant DISagreements! *blush*"

Discombobulated, Lesley? Were you thinking of Jaymee's "good sailor"? :-)

(Hope I spelled your name right, J.!)

Let the Cable wars begin!

After learning what the “limited basic” was, I thought, ‘boring.’ (I actually had a friend who had that)

Today I spoke to a sales rep named Saul. He has the triple play service himself and uses exfinity (funny the things you learn about people). At first, I was only interested in Cable service—but standard is $64.45, and combined with the $29.95 installation fee and who knows what all, my first bill would have been $93. Besides, almost $65 for TV service! Yikes-no wonder Mom switched to Direct (unfortunately, I can’t get that here). With the triple play, however, I’d get a discounted rate (about $99 for all three). First month, $49.95 for installation, $7 for modem, and $29.95 for activation of phone service. About $106 for the first month, then it would drop. (Unfortunately, when I was doing the electronic verification, the woman couldn’t hear me-and I could just barely understand her. She put my name down for a call-back. If I don’t hear from them by tomorrow, I may have to call them again.)

If everything goes according to plan, installation will occur next Thursday between 12:30 and 3:30.

Once the TV's mounted on the wall and the Cable installed, I'll have to buy some DVDs.

All my old VHS are at the old place(AKA Mom's)

And due to problems with current CD player, some of my CDs are scratched (and I misplaced others a long time ago)

Started a new book, "Cursed," last night

Aggressive techniques of sales rep = intimidated = talked to Mom = reconsidered =calling Comcast tomorrow-interested in Digital Basic, not Tripple Play

lesley153 Sounds like a good idea, talking to a few people. If the little voice inside your head feels uncomfortable, listen to it. One thing that makes me run away is the special offer that expires today. I will not be rushed. if the best offer in the world expires tonight, there will still be a better one tomorrow.

Mom dropped off more food, as she's leaving town for the weekend

She also bought me a pair of gloves with shea butter inside (from Kohl's-they're so soft!)

I moved five containers to the freezer (the olderstuff, as I figured I wasn't eating it fast enough)

I have a fresh turkey pinwheel, an omelet, some sausage, and a few containers whose contents I can't think of offhand (oh, and I have two small ones of pineapple, and I had an apple dumpling)

I told Mom about what Grandma said this morning about Michelle. She was shocked, and hopes that stops (Grandma had much the same language in June, but it didn't offend me the way it did today, maybe because I was in a more loyal mood, or maybe because... **I can't believe I'm making *excuses!)

Time to call it a night :)

Good advice, Lesley. Unfortunately, I seem to have had this lesson before and get in over my head. Thank goodness Mom's there to keep it above water!

'Morning'

It's raining off and on again

I'm almost done with "Cursed"

The one wheel of my walker seems to be stuck, so the leg needs to be switched

Most complete story to date is one in the "dumb criminals" folder under "The Empress"

Working on "part 1, The Surgeon's Assistant"

Last night, got a scare when Mom noticed one of the folder names and asked what it was

I didn't want her to read it, as part of me gets self-conscious about the stories while I'm yet writing them (mostly, though, the problem is that I'm afraid she'll criticize my work)

- Mom: Are they pretend friend stories?
- Me: I knew you'd say something like that.
- Mom (puts a comforting hand on my shoulder): It's OK; you can write about whatever you want.

I don't remember her telling me that before. I'm sorry if she felt hurt (which, she most certainly did). Later, I offered to let her see a finished copy. (and we talked at length about the "pretend friend" thing. Understandably, she got upset because I spent so much time in Fantasyland rather than in the "real world" doing homework and suff I knew I had to do. I suggested that maybe I was dealing with stuff I couldn't really deal with, and she said that was news to her-which was when I commented that we had a communication misunderstanding, or put another way a "failure to communicate")

I did tell her there is a lot of graphic violence in my writing, which she wanted to know where it came from. As I'm not really aware myself, how can I possibly explain?

lesley153 "Are they pretend friend stories?"
And there's me thinking you were all grown up!

A rep who doesn't try to push you is the sort of rep we want.

Jazmee, if we could go back in time, imagine what the families or friends of various authors could have said to them....

Charles Dickens - why are you writing about Christmas? It's the middle of summer. A Christmas Carol? So, it's about music then?

Edgar Allan Poe - you're writing a book about what? A heart? A tell-tale heart? You should be writing about something else. What? I don't know...you're the author.

William Shakespeare - a story about romance? In today's era? You should be writing about something important. Perhaps something about the plague would make for good reading.

As for you, Samuel Pepys...a diary? Diaries are for young, love-struck girls. What do you mean it's an accounting of history? No one will be interested in that!

So, Jazmee, write away. If the masses don't understand, it is all part of being creative.

Morning, Jazmee. I hope your day is excellent!

"And there's me thinking you were all grown up!"
I'm not sure how to take that, Lesley.

The names used in the stories are just names, and while I may have had "pretend friends" in the past, if I have any internal dialogue now it's different than it was then ('sometimes, talking to yourself is the only thing that keeps us sane.)'

I'm still adding to that folder, as previous stories I've made now seem more logically to fit better under the name of the villain involved

Hi, Daymare, same to you.

One of these days, maybe I'll feel comfortable letting Mom read something I wrote--I know I used to, back when I was yet in public school: I believe it was called "The Promise".

Stephanie called to let me know she and Mom are on their way to their destination.

Mom's driving Steph's car.

She seems to be as upset about this Digital Starter being only an online offer only (while I was on the phone with Steph she yelled, "Do you want my business or not?")

I don't understand why their "online promotional offer" is $29.95 for 12 months, but it's $64.45 if you call for the other package (which, unless I'm mistaken, contains less channels-either that, or they're the same, which is doubtful. "Did somebody say highway robbery?")
