I would hope
21q ‘I would hope,’ I thought as I worked on tape 13. Some of the sections I did today are (a) redundant, (b) don’t make sense, or (c) both. Hopefully, the fact that I made it a nightmare, “worst-case scenario” will keep me from redoing the whole thing again.

Changes
I made several changes, starting with the fact I didn’t watch “The Prince and Me.” I figure they’ll just show it again another day, so if I’m not interested…
The next change occurred because one of the programs must have been written down wrong, and another program just didn’t interest me. So I’m watching “”Two Weeks Notice” and “Law and Order: SvVU.” Maybe “Nightmare Next Door.”

Deadly Women
I didn’t watch the whole episode yesterday, but Investigation replayed it this afternoon.
The first segment I hadn’t seen involved a 19-year-old who brutall y murdered two individuals in 2000. The defendant’s sister “sets out to finish what he started,” and, as she “blames her father for her brother’s crimes and fears her daughter will be sexually assaulted,” plans the man’s murder. “She goes to her brother’s friend, who uses three different weapons to murder his victim. She then goes to the police to report ‘what may have happened,’ claiming to have no idea of who did it. But police find ‘letters and a money trail’ between her and the murderer. She is then sent to prison where, although incarcerated for six years, is released in four. After that, she visits her brother regularly in prison.”
Next is a story of a 51-year-old in Erie, Pennsylvania, who plots to murder her father because she “believes her father is stealing thousands of dollars from her.” In all, she orchestrates two murders and an armed robbery. “She claims her mental illness absolves her of any responsibility.”
In another segment, “a girl desperate for cash to buy drugs turns to murder: On June 15, 1990, this deadly woman visits nine-year-old Autumn, who she lures to the bathroom. ‘She was stabbed in excess of fifty times.’ Then, leaving her victim, the murderer ‘went from room to room looking for items to steal.’ Two hours later ‘she returns to the scene of the crime,” and police are able to track her down due to a bloody footprint. In 1992, she is convicted and condemned to death.”
Yet another story is that of a woman who’s jealous of her neighbors, so much so that she spreads vicious lies that end in their murder. “Kim was a natural born killer.”

One Thing I dn't like
One thing I don’t like about programs that are on only once a week is that, (a) you have to wait a week for the next installment, and (b) by the time the show comes on again you’ve already forgotten what you saw before.

Wrong
My first thought was that I must have written the time wrong; the second, that Newsline had gotten it wrong. Then I called and realized I *did write down the wrong time!
Years ago, I used to watch Yu-gi-o on channel 7 at 4:30; that was during weekdays. Now, it’s on Saturdays on channel 2 at 9, then again at 11:30.

Malfunction
Yesterday, I turned on the AC as it was getting hot in here, and the heat came onl. I immediately turned it off and, after a few seconds, tried again—with the same result. One more try, and this time the air kicked in. ‘Anotherr call in to maintenance.’

Special collection
Grandma helped me order books from the Fall/Winter 2011 issue of Special Collection, which came in the mail today. The postmark date for orders is October 31, and my choices are:
- ‘Incantation’ by Alice Hoffman. “This powerful novel of love, friendship and betrayal will capture your heart and conscience, as one best friend turns against the other with haunting consequences.”
- ‘The Winter People,’ by Joseph Bruchac. “This exciting historical adventure is told from the perspective of a 14-year-old Native American boy and his family, as they are caught up in a struggle for survival during the French and Indian War.”
- Witch and Wizard’ by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charboonnet. “Whit and Wisty Allgood –are taken from their family in the night, accused of witchcraft, and imprisoned by the corrupt New Order. Can the newly minted witch and wizard master their skills in time to save themselves, their parents—and maybe the world?”
- ‘Vampireology: the True History of the Fallen’ by Archer Brookes. “Explore (if you dare) the true history of the Fallen Ones—and follow the fate of a 1920’s investigator lured by a beautiful vampire to his doom. This book provides a wealth of information, such as the origin of vampires, shape shifting abilities, myths, tips for spotting, and protecting oneself from them.”

Worry Over Nothing
Tonight I told Mom it’s been a week since I heard from Georgette, and that I called her twice after her doctor appointment. When I called the first time, on Tuesday or Wednesday, I left a message—but on Saturday or Sunday, I didn’t.
Mom suggested (a) she’s busy, or (b) she and her family went to visit her sister in Virginia. In other words, I “worry over nothing.”
Tonight, I left her another message—asking her to call me back when she could—and she did. Turns out, the doctor diagnosed her with bronchitis—but other than that, she’s fine. As for her sister, apparently her fiance’s been dishonest with her, so she doesn’t know where the relationship’s going.
