Welcome, all! Sit down on one of the couches, or pull up a chair: itâ??s all about comfort in my little place. Some of the furnishings have yet to be installed, but itâ??s still nice and comfortable :)

Music, food, games, talk--whatever you want :))

When I went down for the mail, reported to Sue that I smelld smoke again.

Turns out, Audrey was in hospital, which is likely why I haven't smelled it lately.

"I hoped she'd quit."
It would have been nice if she *had*.

I explained I have nothing against smokers, justpeople who have a blatant disregard for rules.

Daryl's marriage is over :(

According to him, they got along fine until they were married, then everything fell apart

He's "accepting applications for #4."

The Mary Higgins Clark book, or something else?

Yes, I've finished the Mary Higgins novel - and started another one by her (I think I read in her memoir that it's her first)

Smoke particles filtering in :(

Started writing another narrative. If I can finish them, it will help me connect my stories together for the drama (so will the analyses of said drama I'm doing)
======
How does one go about speaking about something he’d rather forget? How can he give details of which he’s partially or mostly unaware? These are the questions floating around inside the empty recesses of my brain. They haunt me at night, cause me to lose myself during the day. And, for a time, the need for answers was overpowering. Now, I no longer want to know. But I can’t seem to stop the answers from coming, from slapping me in the face, from changing my life forever.

I think, like my cousins, I was born in the kingdom of Scenoria. Surely, my birth name supports this: Aivahri. Due to events which, reluctantly, I will reveal, I don’t allow any of my family or friends to address me by it. I didn’t change my name or anything, just translated it from Scenorian to Qiryntian or Universal Dialect. So I’m known as either Qahsanori or Bheniyto.

I have at least four cousins, two or three of whom I should be close to, but relations are kind of strained. It’s a long story, which could take a while for me to tell, especially since every now and then those pesky details overwhelm me. I’m only six years old; what I wouldn’t do for a “normal” life. Of course, I keep that tought to myself, as the last time I said something, I was told that the word means something different. Someone might even have said something about how it’s relative. I just let that go; I’m a bright kid for my age, but more often than that stuff that used to make sense to me before just don’t. It’s like… I don’t know exactly.

Note how my spellings change sometimes.

Just wrote this poem:
======
The day will come

The day will come
When people
Will follow
All the rules,
When they won’t
Cut corners
Just because;
When they
Will do their
Jobs the first time,
Without needing
Someone to
Shove them;
When the world
Will be
In balance.

The day will come
When the thing called
Customer service, or
Customer relations, will
Resurface; or won’t
Be so rare,
One has to
Search so careful
Just to find it.

The day will come
When people won’t
Pretend to be
What they are not,
When things like
Status and prestige, or
What’s “popular”
Won’t define
Every moment
Of one’s existence.

The day will come…

I will never understand why appearance is so damned important (or, given my flippant mood, why don't I go one better and use a word the Brits use a lot - vloody)

lesley153 All the time! - but only when I'm feeling polite.

I have an idea that what is considered beauty corresponds with youth, health and general fitness to breed.

Thanks, Beth.

“only when I'm feeling polite.”
I like that!

I missed a call Sunday, which turns out to be why I don’t have my library books yet (the ones Sue Miller picked up for me and paid for). So bloody irritating—I’m still wracking my brain to see how I couldn’t have heard the phone. I mean, it was in the next room, but it’s not as if this apartment’s especially large or anything!

Wrote some more narrative:
======
Mother’s been gone these five years. Seems longer, but… Doesn’t it always? I suppose I blame that man who calls himself my father for abandoning us before I was even a year old. So we moved in to Scenorian Palace with my uncle and cousins—there were two palaces, and both burned to the ground, so which one was this? I can’t remember names; too painful, they tell me.

After that first fire, we all moved to this bigger palace, and my other uncle by the name of Orseviyto moved in with us. Of course, that was once one of my twin cousins had been reunited with his father. I always felt slightly sorry for him and his brothers, because their mother died giving birth to the youngest twin. But on the other hand, I’ve always resented them the relationship they had with their father as I don’t remember mine. Years later, though, I felt bad about that, and tried to get closer… But I digress.

One of the hardest things to handle was when Maria, one of my teachers, found father was living close by. Not only that, but I have a half sister! She’s coming here to live soon, and I’m still not sure I want her to. I blame her for taking father away. Unfair, I know, but… The worst part is, I’m kind of thinking she might be a bit older than me! But, there again, I have some explaining to do.

Finished the book

Tomorrow I'll start one called "The Winner Walks Alone"

People searching for similarities between her characters/novels will find it, and I don't as I'm justinterested in reading (but I can see how some people end up doing comparisons; if you're looking, you'll find it; I've noticed the same with Debbie Macomber's stuff - I probably wouldn't reread any, except some of the narrators are absolutly fantastic [not all, as some tend to give too much away by the voices they use])

I often wonder why I'll think, on a given day, "Please not today, Mom." I love her dearly... but, for whatever reason, I don't want to see her most weeks during the week!

But if I don't talk to her, then I get worried (and she'll tell me to calm down when I tell her that--as if... it's OK if *she* worries about *me* but not the otherway around!)

The other week I invited a woman to my team. Today, she replied to the invite to ask me if anyone writes nengative sh*t about... well... how do I put this tactfully? I don't, that's what! If people *label* others! I wrote back that there's nothing like that on my board, and if there is (a) the individual involved will be removed from the team, and (b) any comments he/she made will be deleted (I have a link that allows me to do this, and have in fact deleted my own replies/threads)

Any negative comments directed toard a certain group of individuals, or any labels slapped on such individuals, is strictly prohibited (I've been labeled in the past and didn't appreciate it, so why would I stand by and allow it to be said in my hearing? Well, you know what I mean!)

Rant over (until the next one)

The bvook I ordered from the library in Braille came already. It's three volumes (you really can't condense Braille) an is called Firestorm. When I ordered it, was asked if I wanted to read it again (was half tempted to say wouldn't have asked for it otherwise, but restrained myself)

This morning was smelling smoke or something outside. Called Pam, who informed me the generator fluid overflowed, so that's what I smelled.

Also told her about yesterday afternoon. Around 5 or so, nose and eyes were stinging as cigarette particles were filtering into apartmen. (Allergies are acting up, but think they'd have been worse had windows not been open. Irony is, hot as it is there's pollen blowing all aroun and am allergic to that. Also, can't stand vehicle exhaust in the warmer weather; of course, now I also know such things release hydrogen cyanide when burned--but I've always known the hotter it is, the worse it is, and "bring in the sarcasm: I **can't *wait until I start smelling ozone again!").

It's about time

It’s about time
The shipment was in,
The one they said
Would be here
Tuesday or yesterday;
The one the
Manager fought over-
She who shouldn’t
Manage a thing.

It’s about time
Things settled down,
But of course,
With so much in life,
As soon as you win some,
You then lose some:
Such is the balance of life.
