I see where Animals has opened up again, with a 6-12 day wait. IF I get ready to leave and have enough time before getting on the road and IF "Z" is still open, I'll holler at you.
If someone else takes it before the "IF's" above happen, that's fine, too.

I'm really digging this Y quiz; I just had a spree and wrote four questions today, for a total of six. I'm starting to dream that I can finish it up before Christmas. I've signed myself up for an awful lot of baking in the meantime, though ...

Well, neither do I, not really. Baking is fun planning, it's fun during, and it's especially fun after. But it's just kind of inevitable that two pies, two pumpkin rolls, and a double batch of cookies are going to slow down the quizwriting. Even more so if I have time to do the brownies too.

Ya, but you can write quizzes while you are sitting there waiting for everything in the oven. :P

Silly salami_swami! "Baking time" is for whipping eggs, making pie fillings, and loading cookies onto the next cookie sheet. :-)
Also it turns out one of our guests can't eat gluten, so we need to step up our game on the flourless dessert options. So oven time is also for slicing and frying apples. With lots of sugar. And cinnamon. Mmm. And I almost forgot about the mulled cider.

For a very simple recipe of gluten free peanut butter cookies, see below.
Also, if they can do dairy, great. If not, substitute butter with ghee or some other dairy free alternative. :-)
All it takes is a cup of peanut butter, a cup of sugar (they are very sweet; cut in half if you want), an egg, and a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Add some gluten-free chocolate chips for extra deliciousness. :P
Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Extremely simple but very delicious recipe, and no gluten. :D

Truth is, most people are 'allergic' to gluten, just some more than others. The stuff's not good for ya. ;)

Not to mention that, in my opinion, as well as many others, the "gluten-free" diet has put less validity on those who actually have celiacs (probably spelled wrong).
It's funny, though, some friends of mine were fine, felt great, healthy as horses... Then friends kept trying to convince them to try to go gluten-free, because THEY felt better. Then they went to the gluten doctor guy and were told they were allergic to gluten and needed to avoid it at all cost. So they started doing that, and, though they didn't feel sick WITH gluten, they claim they feel better without it. I don't entirely doubt it, but I don't entirely believe it, either.
My mom went to this doctor with her friend, and the doctor told her that gluten free isn't something she needs to worry about... It's only the biggest "fad diet" right now.
So, long story short... I won't be going gluten free any time soon. :P Actually, it's more half and half. I *usually* eat no gluten, simply because most of what I eat is not gluten, but I don't read ingredients in chip bags to see if they are gluteny, and I'll eat bread if I want to eat bread. :P

Most processed food items out there don't note that they include gluten. For example, it's hard to find gluten-free pepperettes.

It's hard to find gluten-free anything. Most processed foods are made with gluten SOMETHING. Even if it's just that they are prepared on a table that also prepares gluten...
It's my opinion that you can't AVOID gluten FULLY, only MOSTLY. :P

Pretty much the same thing as pepperoni, only in sticks.

Wait... You mean like, skinny sticks? Cuz pepperoni itself comes in sticks, doesn't it? :P Or because its thick, is that a log?
Aah, meat. The weird, wonderful world of yum.

Unfortunately I was not paying attention when I put what my title was and it was four words. I have changed the title to "Western Wrangling of Whatchamacallits". Still foru words but one is of so I don't count it. Is that acceptable or do I need to change it further? Rather disconcerting to get the thing done then realize my title is not correct.
