How were the levels for the brackets originally decided? Would spacing them more evenly change anything?

The only thing it would change is making it easier for more people to win. There should be less divisions and the first 40 levels shouldn't even be eligible to win an Expert topic.

Maybe a badge for 20 15/15 under-75 second scores in addition to the Jack of Many Trades would keep the Jack of Many Trades difficult while still giving players who haven't yet reached centurion level more incentive to play. The Who's the Expert is one of my favorites and I wouldn't mind more badges, while keeping the existing ones "special."

Not too sure where we are going here, but most of my Expert wins came after level 40. Those of us that join up and then play all Funtrivia games like a man possessed will very quickly attain that sort of level anyway. After a month or two, folks will have the maturity to accept that you are playing against equally matched players in your topic of choice. One simply cannot be an expert in all topics. Though I recently got Invertebrates, must have been a bad day for everyone else. All in all I will still keep plugging away.

I suppose you are right. I'll keep plugging along too. Like I said, this is one of my favorite games.

I have had a win which is a truely fantastic feeling - but do get very frustrated with the technical difficulties I have with my computer - jokingly I say it has been crossed with a clydesdale - it is really technically slow. So wont be winning any speed demons any time soon.
Still I love the FT site and will keep plugging away.
Cheers Underscored

I've wondered about the divisions as well, and have seen how difficult it can be to win in the 76-200 division. But I do agree that's part of the game and at level 76, you're ready to compete with the big boys - and the win will be that much more satisfying. That being said, I'm still at level 71 and am playing any Expert I think I have chance in to try and get the Jack of Many badge before I get to level 76.
On a side note, I keep picking Math to pop up as a category and it gets changed every time! Grrr....come on guys Math is fun, now where are the 7 people on this site who agree with me? :D

As a math person I've been wanting to play the math for awhile now as well and also get a tad thrown off when it gets changed. Come on, guys! The same happens to all other categories I pick but I guess that's part of the game! There must be three times as many people who get to choose categories as there are categories. But when it happens to you every week the point of the level perk starts to get lost...

My apologies to those who love Math. I changed that subject, but only once. I try to mix it up a bit when changing a subject and am to blame for choosing odd topics just for variety or topics I haven't seen played lately. If I only chose something I'm good at there'd be no variety. :)

I rarely change topics, but if I do, I tend to change ones that haven't been chosen by other players, as there are usually a few there to choose from. Means my category still might come up and I also haven't trodden on anyone's choice!

I wish someone had changed the Atlanta Braves category. I don't know anything about rounders.

It was probably a topic that couldn't be changed.

I think you're right - there's one on the Yankees on its way.

It is a toss-up. Many times if you are at Level 74 the games are 41-200 anyway. No guarantee that it will be a 61-75 split. The whole thing is sort of willy-nilly in a way.

Wow. Looks like it happened. Just noticed it tonight!! The divisions have all changed!!
I wish you had done that a couple of months ago, though. :-/

I just noticed this today myself, and I think it does make sense at this point. I had posted on this topic several months ago saying the divisions were fine as is, but since then many new (and fantastic) challenges have been added such as triathlons, the Great Race, and the new daily challenges. With more badges available, more levels can be obtained. I know I'll start playing the expert game a bit more with the new structure.

The divisions do make it easier to win an Expert game. Now, all I have to play against is "the big dogs". If the new divisions where implemented a year ago, I would have my Jack of All Trades badge by now. Win #73 came yesterday. Guess I didn't notice that there were less people playing. I thought it was a down hour. I'd average about 1 win per month. I have to agree with Anton on this subject. It should be hard, but I do accept the change.
