Pulled pork sandwich with cranberry juice to drink. Made too much, so will be having that most of this week!

lesley153 So am I, but a very sheltered one - I've never eaten the Kraft one. Go on, tell me, I haven't lived?

lesley153 Sorry, my post 162 was a slow reply to turbotude's post 160.

Well, Lesley, if you were living in the States, I'd have to say you haven't lived. But that also includes never having noshed on a can of Chef Boyardee ravioli or Beefaroni. Believe it or not, I have a friend who is a 5-star chef, who owns sucessful restaurants, and he admitted to me one evening while socializing at his home that he, too, opens up cans of 'forbidden foods' to scarf down with either a glass of ice cold milk....or better yet, a nice red wine. No snobbery working in MY circle!
Dinner this evening was white popcorn, popped in olive oil and sprinkled very generously with parmesan and romano cheese. Needless to say, a glass of cabernet was required to wash it down. Um Um Um!

Redwaldo: what else did you have with that tuna sandwich?

lesley153 I believe it! Graham Kerr, the Galloping Gourmet, said he could no longer go out for fish and chips once his face became known. Anyone spotting him in the chippie would point and jeer and cackle - "Now we know what you *really* eat!" How shallow are we?

Went out to lunch for V's Day and spoiled myself with Fettucine Alfredo and a really fresh tossed salad, followed by a trip to our favorite ice cream shop.

lesley153 Sounds good!

You spoiled yourself - that wouldn't be shorthand for "I was spoilt" would it?

lesley153 HobNobs are good too - it's hard to beat a chocolate HobNob!

Thanks, Blood, for the link. I'm really NOT that lazy.....well maybe I am. For some reason I didn't think it was a brand name product, but British slang for a homemade treat.

Lesley: Are the HobNobs really sweet? I'm not really much into desserts, but occasionally I like to have a cookie (biscuit) that is barely sweet.
I told my daughter about how I used to make chocolate chip cookies, using the recipe for date-filled cookies for the dough. Unlike the traditional Tollhouse recipe, these cookies got their mildly sweet flavor from the dark chocolate chips, and the cookies are soft and chewy instead of crunchy. She started experimenting with the recipe, and a couple of times she got it 'spot-on', once it went amusingly wrong, and she's still working on it. I asked her to give me a tin of them the next time she gets 'em right. The longer I have to wait, the better it is for my waistline!

lesley153 They are rather, I'm afraid.

I have in my hand a packet of milk chocolate HobNobs, and it tells me that they are 32.6% sugar (ouch) and one biscuit is 6.3g of sugar and 95 calories.

One of the ingredients is glucose-fructose syrup, which I've just read is supposed to persuade your body that it's still hungry. They're obviously hoping people will buy them to eat a whole packet at one sitting.

Delicious as they are, I think you might be better off with your dark chocolate chips and your recipe book.
