Apologies to 'The Sound of Music' but i would like to provide a counterpoint to the thread, small but annoying things.
It is easy to find something to complain about,
but what about the small things that give us pleasure, day to day experiences that make you smile and give a lift to your day.
I'll start out with a couple,
getting up early enough in the morning to actually watch the sun rise, and the quietness of a sunday morning.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

I second your emotion, George! Positive experiences are much more fun to relate than all the negative stuff!
Amen to the early mornings, as I'm at work at that time, and get to watch glorious sunrises......AWESOME!
One of my favorite things is having a friend or family member, out of the blue, express appreciation for things I've done for them over the years.....and had forgotten about.
Another one....stray and feral animals deciding that YOU'RE the person they can trust, and ultimately love. What a feeling!

A few of my favorite things would have to be family, music, friends, sports, and funtrivia. All of these things give off such great vibes in one way or another, and are such important parts of my life and my lifestyle. They represent who I am, and all play big roles in shaping my past, present, and future. I could not live without any of these, especially friends and family :)

Rain on a tin roof after a dry spell; a newly born calf; finding the first wildflowers in the bush; an Australian Christmas tree in flower; a cold beer after a long hot day...

The laughter of babies. It is innocent and genuine.

C30 Scent of freshly cut grass, spring flowers, first light evening when clocks go forward, purring of contented cat (incidentally we have 4 cats - 3 of which are ex-feral).

Great thread! I have really been enjoying the lights and decorations people have put up at their houses for the holidays. A big thank you to all the people who have decorated!

The greeting I get from my dog when I get home from a long day. His happy face and wiggly butt never fail to cheer me up.

When teenage son speaks and smiles instead of grunting and scowling :) (I do realise that it's almost Christmas and therefore things will likely be back to normal on December 26th!)

Baby animals of any sort, nice summer days in the mountains, fresh oatmeal raisin cookies and kraut burgers, purring kitties and tail wagging dogs. There's a lot more but this is a good place to start.

naerulinnupesa Reading a book in the comfort of my room while listening to the storm outside. Hearing a sweet song and learning to sing it. Getting a note from a friend telling me something kind. Taking a picture of something that took my breath away, such as an amazing sunset.

Going to a concert by your favorite musician and letting the experience wash over you as listen with your friends
and the whole audience, and seeing the artist feed off the energy in the room and elevate their playing to a new level.

I enjoy meeting a new pair of shoes. Ones that, at try-on, assure you that the three of you will spend many happy times going from place to place. I also give a prayer that the shoes I failed to connect with will find someone else and a match as gratifying as the one I had just found.
