My team has a post where, every once and a while, we pop in and say what song is currently playing on our ipod/mp3/radio/etc. Whatever is on right then, is what you post. :-)

Greatguggly Right now I'm listening to the "Sticky Fingers" album by the Rolling Stones. At this moment it's playing that fantastic Keith Richards crunch at the beginning of "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'". Next up is a fine example of skinny British white guys doing an excellent job of playing an American black man's blues to perfection with "You Gotta Move".

When I was still forming my musical opinions and likes, I always loved this tune. I loved the Beatles first, and as a 'young hipster' this song made me think how cool George Harrison was.

Then it was brought to my attention, at the time, looking through my recently divorced mother's record collection that it was in fact not George Harrison at all. It was the Grateful Dead!

I never listened to them before. It was awesome to me. A new flavor of music. Thanks mom.

but it still sounds like George to me.

Greatguggly I've never noticed Garcia's voice sounding like Harrison's but you're right, it really does on that song. You're also right that it's a nice song. I've heard it before but it's been years and I'd never have thought of it again.

The Beatles morphing into The Dead or George becoming lead singer of The Dead, well The Beatles did split up about the same time as The Dead first charted. As a young hipster Box, I hope you were taking nothing illegal, lol. Great song though.

I'm burning some music for an old friend. I thought I'd share this with all of you. It's the Doors. The words are really powerful when you listen. I think, anyway.

This song had been stuck in my head for the better part of a week while at work. Thought I'd share it with you. Now that I'm off.

I know I've posted three songs in a row but it's late (early). I'm off of work and I labor on third shift. . .
Everyone is in bed still. I'm bored!

Listened to 'Strawberry Fields Forever' a moment ago. It dawned on me that the way the cellos were used had never been done before on a rock song. I don't think. Brian Wilson reportedly was so amazed that he shelved 'Smile' after hearing this. The trumpets were nice too. The strings though. Wonderful. Listen.

I've always really liked David Bowie's backing vocals on Satellite of Love.
I have Transformer in my personal top 10 albums of all time.

lesley153 I bought Strawberry Fields Forever. I didn't have it for long, though. The boyfriend of the hour was doing my head in and I needed to get away more than I needed to keep my single. It's probably somewhere in his collection of Buddy Holly 78s. Or in smithereens by now.

This was on the other side.

"My Way" Eddie Cochran, just bought it on eBay for £3.25 in excellent condition. I was going to buy a first pressing of The Beatles "Love Me Do" with Ringo on drums but it went for £122, too much for my bank balance.
