My team has a post where, every once and a while, we pop in and say what song is currently playing on our ipod/mp3/radio/etc. Whatever is on right then, is what you post. :-)

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Wow. John Lord passed. One of the driving forces behind Deep Purple. I'm glad he was with his family when he passed.

This tune I just listened to reminds me of the 'old' days of craziness. Maybe the craziness is still there somewhat. I was thinking of one of my FT friends, along with me when I played it a few minutes ago. Older tune, but rings true in it's message.

Bet a lot of you Thin Lizzy fans don't know this one!

BIG_flicker. I LOVE the tune from post#390. The picture of the boys on the link make them look like hitmen, waiting for their mark. I never thought that Simon and Garfunkel could look mean until I saw this picture. :^)

Good song though.

When I was in Paris, I visited the cemetery where Edith Piaf is buried. I went there first to visit Jim though. After I spent some time with different people at his grave, it was time to visit other graves. Edith's was one. Of course Oscar's couldn't be missed.

She had a nice voice wyambezi.

Nice voice - but all the comments say it's not Edith!

lesley153 All the YouTube clips of the song promised Piaf but delivered Mireille Matthieu or Maysa. Although Brel wrote it, I think it's billed as a Piaf song is the same way as "I will always love you" is billed as a Whitney Houston song - Dolly Parton wrote it, sang it too, but Houston sang it louder, and seemed to convince almost everyone that this delicate little song benefited from the Ethel Merman treatment.

Here's Brel singing Ne Me Quitte Pas.

This may be Piaf: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNt_miUv7Hg
This definitely is!

Greatguggly One of the greatest live vocal performances I've ever heard. Maybe the best.

Greatguggly Ok..one more. This was one of my mom's favorite songs. I played it at her memorial service while my brother and youngest sister sang it. I barely got through it.

Greatguggly Ok, I lied. This song and many other old country songs like "Apartment No. 9" were recorded in March 1977 by Keith Richards and Ian Stewart in Canada when Richards thought he was going to prison for a very long time on inhumane drug charges. To me, Keith Richards is the most dedicated musician the world has seen in a long time. Forget all the big rock star BS. That's not who he really is.

Daaanieeel "Money" by Pink Floyd. Is not "Dark Side of the Moon" one of the greatest albums ever?

I find Pink Floyd to be overrated but I still enjoy their music. I much prefer Yes, King Crimson, and Rush for my prog rock fix.

Greatguggly Pink Floyd is probably my second favorite band, maybe 3rd. I thought they had a lot more to say and did it much more cleverly than anyone else. After Bob Dylan, I think Roger Waters is the best lyricist in rock music and Gilmour is a fantastic guitar player. Dark Side of the Moon is not my favorite Pink Floyd album, though. It is great, no doubt, but I think I've heard it so many times that I now prefer Animals and The Wall.
