My team has a post where, every once and a while, we pop in and say what song is currently playing on our ipod/mp3/radio/etc. Whatever is on right then, is what you post. :-)

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

"Last Day of Winter"- Pelican

These guys are so good they don't need a singer :).

Daaanieeel That's interesting, just last night I googled pelicans (the animal) to find out about their behaviour after I managed to get incredibly close to a wild one. That band popped up as a suggestion. I'm not a fan of the genre they're in, though.

and here's a compilation which includes an introduction by Jimmy Savile, and her Eurovision appearance in 1965.

Daaanieeel "Crown of Love" by Arcade Fire. One of my favourites from "Funeral", a truly remarkable album which deserves all the praise it received.

Greatguggly The "Greatest Rock and Roll band in the world" (contrary to popular belief, not a self-proclaimed title) doing country better than most country artists. Absolute perfection.

That's George Martin striking those piano keys at the end.

Greatguggly What a genius!

I'm no George Martin fan. He was necessary maybe in the early days but they would've been even greater without him. Not all of his influence was bad but he was an old timer who I don't think really had any faith in pop or rock music. Orchestras and all kinds of hoity-toity stuff had to be added. Again, not all bad but I think it brought out the self-indulgent side of the group, a side every band has. He also thinned George's guitar sound (for egotistical reasons?) in the early days.

Greatguggly Maybe all it means is that I'd feel more comfortable in a bar room and you in a ballroom. And there's no harm in that.

Greatguggly But then again I like both bands so I guess that means I'll have to settle for the bedroom.

Haydn's Symphony #26 and then Bruck's "Kol Nidrei". Lazy rainy day and the leaves are just starting to turn and fall.

I'd feel comfortable in a bar listening to the Stones. I Love the Stones.

I don't think I'd want to listen to the Beatles in a ballroom though. :^)

"Kid A"- Radiohead

I always thought these guys were overrated but after listening to this entire album, they deserve all of the praise they are getting. Getting into alternative music one album at a time.

Daaanieeel That's a great album. :)

"Terrible Love" by The National, first song from the "High Violet" album. Great song, pity Birdy's cover ruined it a bit for me.

Greatguggly Led Zeppelin firing on all four cylinders. A vastly underrated song.

Greatguggly Good ol' George. These two songs are both definitely in my top 10 Beatles songs. On "Old Brown Shoe" he sang lead, played bass, lead guitar and organ.

Both great songs Rick. Interesting story behind "I, Me, Mine".
