I loved the Seekers and saw them several times in the 60s. Judith had the most beautiful voice then, and despite a long term health problem, still has.
She was interviewed recently on a night radio show here, and came over as an interesting and vibrant individual.
Keith Potger, another member of the Seekers, lives on the south coast of Western Australia not far from me, and gives the occasional concert in my home town... again, no dimunition of talent with age...

Oh sure! I listened to and loved The Seekers all through the 60's. I don't recall hearing anything from them in the past couple of decades.
I did like Judith Durham's voice, for her particular genre. Not sure how well it would translate to other types of music, where I'd want to hear some raw emotion in it.

Turbo, "raw emotion"?
We're Aussies ! The only things we show raw emotion about are sport (Melbourne Cup, AFL & NRL) and beer ! lol

Oh yeah Judith Durham was a fantastic singer. She could sing easily without any effort. I didn't know she was still performing.

If I ever need to conjure tears, all I need is to think of Judith singing "The Carnival is Over". I loved it as a kid and that feeling has not diminished over the many years since.
And it's hard to imagine a sweeter, more pure voice than her rendition of 'Danny Boy'. It's easily found on YouTube.

When I say 'tears', of course I'm not talking real emotion Tezza!! Real tears are saved for the Tigers loss in 1982, Headingley 1981, Patty Rafter losing Wimbledon (although I didn't begrudge Goran his win) etc etc

I don't agree that she sounds like she did back in the 6o's. Having said that, she still sounds great but the energy and timbre of the voice of youth is impossible to maintain as you get older. I saw her many times at Frank Traynor's Jazz Club, back in the 60's when she was singing with a crowd called the Jazz Preachers. A truly amazing voice. That was prior to the Seekers era. I have always adored her sound and took time out to go to concerts that she performed as a soloist after she left the Seekers. Fabulous vocal technique. I could listen to her all day (and night for that matter)

Wow, lucky you- I didn't realise she was even still touring although I have kept up with most of her concerts posted on Youtube over the last few years in Australia. Not long ago on the radio they wanted our favourite female vocalists, and after making a short list and then putting them all up against each other she won, with Michelle Phillips (Mamas and Papas) and Mary Travers (just left us sadly) coming up nearby just behind. Most of the other callers had never even heard of her so I did a good job raising a bit of awareness. Anyone comparing people like Duffy and Lady Gaga nowadays, or (excuse the destruction of a popular icon) Adele haven't a clue!
It's such a pleasure seeing the old films again from the 60s I remember the first time round on Saturday nights on Youtube along with the reunions since seeing how much we've all aged since then.

Merrijig, that's a favourite of mine also... We played Carnival is Over at my first husband's funeral, and I still get weepy over it 20+ years later.

Judith - There'll never be another You. She was fantastic and so were the Seekers. That is what I call music, not this loud cacophony of sound that passes for music these days.
