I am going to start using that word, updaticity. I add "icity" to the end of a lot of words, as well as "ness". Combined, a lot.
I am bizarre, so I say that I have weirdicitiness.

I am wondering if the powers that be have recognized how very difficult this challenge truly is and have reconsidered awarding a badge for this achievement...I would love to hear what others think :)

I have been periodically lobbying for years to complete the sequence of badges that ends at 15 categories with a 20 category badge. The suggestion that it would encourage poor quizzes just to cover categories doesn't wash when they have to meet the sunglasses test!

Yes, having to have sunnies in each category is an amazing achievement far beyond even the 20 categories we are suggesting, looney... I would love to see it become a badge to have sunglasses in all 20 categories. :)

Has anyone ever achieved this feat?

Yes, several have. A few names on the main post of this thread even show some who accomplished it in under a year!

Curiosity struck, and I am so ever close to also earning the achievement of having a quiz with sunglasses in every category. Unfortunately, the only one left is in my worst and least favorite category of all; sci/tech. So I have 19 categories with sunnies.
Not for Pangalactic, of course, I only have 8. But overall, throughout my 6 years of quiz writing, I have earned 19 categories (currently).
That is the ultimate inspiration for writing a sci/tech quiz!

You prompted me to check mine, Salami, and I still have sunnies in every category, even VG. I don't know if they are still the same quizzes that qualified for this challenge, though.

I don't know how I will ever write a quiz on Video Games, much less one that will merit a Sunny.

you just need to find an angle gracious and then research it ...
I've written two now and all achieved through research

This time last year I hadn't yet written quizzes in three different categories (Celebrities, Video Games, & Sci/Tech). The Amazing Race and the Pangalactic gave me the push I needed to make the effort. Since then I've written 3 Celebrity quizzes, 3 Sci/Tech and 2 VG, earning one Sunny in each (that is still there). It can be done.

Not knowing a lot can actually be an advantage in pitching to a general audience :)
I'm in the same boat with Sports, but I think if I find a route that interests me it'll be more likely to be interesting to a wider audience as I am a non-fan so will automatically avoid overly technical jargon or niche figures like who has the highest batting average and such.

Nicely said, Malik. I use that approach in writing quizzes for the Bus Ride. I choose a country about which I know virtually nothing, then start reading about it. Something that catches my attention is likely to be of interest to the tourists, too, assuming I can construct the question in an interesting fashion. The type of fact that grabs me determines the overall approach to the quiz, and what category it is going to go in. It takes longer than writing a quiz on a subject I already know well, but the learning process is quite enjoyable.

That's not been rated yet, Anna. ;)
Though I imagine it WILL finish Creedy's PanGalactic when the time comes. :)
