It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Should hopefully be back soon - it seems my name service provider is (partially) down. They have significantly reconfigured their service, so it may take a few hours.

I did see it earlier, but can't now for the reason you've explained. Any chance that the red text in the table can be un-bolded? :-)

Not really. It will however disappear as soon as we score your next round.

triviaking162 My Task 9 quiz is up, thanks to some speedy queue times by Wes.

Wes, just wondering. How do I get credit for 7 days, when most of that time was queue time on my first quiz?

The first quiz was written in around 2 hours, sat in the queue for 3 days, and the next one took around 18 hours, and has been in the queue since Saturday.

George, the "first time plus 2 Rvsn" rule only applies when the quiz is made noncompliant by an editor action. If you submit a quiz that isn't inside the rules, the time continues running (I had the same problem which caused my to have a 1 day and something time instead of the under 2 hours)

Okay. I wasn't really in the running anyway. ;)

Round ten begins at 5 pm Funtrivia Time. There will be another 30 minute bonus available for this round.

Woot! I want all the help I can get. Of course, I'm nowhere near in the running (unless everyone fails the next few tasks and I read them perfectly every time and write quicker than everyone), but still, I like the 30 minute bonuses. ;)

That'll be midnight here (I think) so I won't be looking at it that soon.

Mariamir Oh dear. Wes, I clicked your thread before you posted the next clue. However, I forgot to close the page. I did not refresh just then, just went back to the board. Has my time started?

You're perfectly safe. Since you did not reload, you neither saw the clue nor did your time register. You just managed in time.

    Mariamir Thanks so much!
