It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

triviaking162 Doesn't Salami's Task 10 quiz technically apply to both tasks? I thought that was funny!

zorba_scank Kyle, you've paired me with L_T in the synopsis for the last clue. I'm sprinting with Lones78. :)

GET a bonus. How does an iPad delete the entire word? I know I type "the" a lot and only see an e, but to type "get" and see nothing? Geez.

Hoping task ten is not time limited like the last one.
Playmate1111 is in hospital with a septic finger and I'm quite busy looking after the zoo we have!

Poor playmate - hope he's better soon

I'm hoping time limits aren't too tight as well as I'm still queue blocked on task 9.

Hard luck, Playmate. I hope to see you back soon.

I just had someone apparently new to the site play one of my quizzes. She sent four correction noties. Not because there was anything wrong with the quiz itself - but because she got four questions incorrect.

I can't even begin to tell you how happy that made me.

New to the site today and I got stuck with her.

That happens a lot more than you might think, but since it is usually younger players who hope to correct their mistake, they tend to be concentrated in pop culture categories.

I got a CN a while ago from someone who said that some celebrity was not born in 1981.

I had just barely mentioned her in the question, let alone her date of birth!

Lol - Pop culture. That's so funny. It's about the last adjective that could be associated with me. She definitely took a wrong turn somewhere there.

    I'm more like mothball culture.

Some people view correction notes as "you can correct my error and give me the points anyway".

I hate those notes; I have often apologized to the editors in that little note when it says "why this correction is wrong" for inconveniencing them and wasting their time with such petty things. ;)

Mothball culture - I like that Creedy. Perhaps it should be an FT sub-category.

There is no need for the author who received the 'correction' to feel any concern. The editor who handles the correction check will get in touch with the player who sent it and explain to them how the system works. It's all part of the education process that helps make the site run smoothly.

Oh I didn't know that, LT - that the editors tell the correction senders about the process. I sent the girl a note to tell her that you only send correction notices if there's something wrong with the quiz/information etc, not if you get the answers wrong.

Nice though. I even gave her a smiley face. She's new, poor kid. The site is very confusing for newbies. I almost needed a guide dog when first joining.

I've been here a couple of weeks over a year and it's STILL very confusing to me. There's just so MUCH of it to see and learn.

But, I would think common sense would tell you that the CN's are not to correct your own errors as a quiz taker...

Yes, I was unaware editors did that as well. Still, though, probably not the must fun thing an editor has to do. ;-)
