It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Something like that sounds fun, Leith, if we can pull it off. :-)

Nice idea Leith ... though I think even ratings can be skewered by a writer who is a member of a large team happy to support them with a string of excellent ratings

triviaking162 How many quizzes are we still waiting for? Just curious.

Counting from the Synopsis, one 11th round and two 12th round entries.

You are right pollucci, but if you look at a lot of the large teams they often have a fairly small number of active members in comparison to the total membership, whereas small teams have mainly active members, so I think support from your team would pretty much even out across the quiz authors participating.

I think the greater problem would be the possibility of people actually down-rating a rival team's quiz. While most players on FT would never do this, even a small minority using "Very Poor" ratings can quickly put what should be a Sunnies quiz into the lower half.

Oh my stars what a lousy thing to do!

Sorry for being one of the stragglers. WOrking on my last two quizzes. Hope to be off the list by the weekend.

Did my partner post that our 12th quiz is online?

Well done by the way, rossian. Although, in my own twisted mind, I beat you by 10 hours. Dang first leg when I didn't know I was competing.

    Sigh. Whatchya gonna do?

Thanks so much for the stats, wes. And thanks to Wes and Kyle for an awesome sprint. I would like another; this one I will do my best to win. :-P

It'd be fun to make the clues too. I bet you guys had a blast. :-)

triviaking162 Yeah Salami, watcha gonna do? Without an accidental mishap on Task 2, my time probably could've been in the top 5.

Oh well, I'm still proud finishing in 9th :)

Congrats to all the finishers and great job to rossian for finishing first!

Yes, but I'm 18th because of my unknowingly in the race for 5 days 3 hours.

Lol. I'm glad there are no prizes... But I did get some excellent quizzes out of this. :-P I loved the sprint!

zorba_scank Wes, can you please re-check the last round's time for our team? I wrote the quiz and it took me around 2 hours. Definitely not the 13 hours it shows as our latest time. Or have I misunderstood the table?

    rossian

So I missed the 24 hour achievement by only 13 minutes! I had a feeling I'd taken just too long.

Well done on managing all three bonuses, Wes.

Salami - dream on. As they say, just look at the tables - they miss out all the hard luck stories.

Thanks again to Wes and Kyle for the challenges. Most of them were fun, but not all. And to confirm, Wes - I am female, not male.

Whoops on the gender... thankfully we don't have separate men's and ladies' competitions out here or I'd always mess that up :)

    looney_tunes

Can you recheck my time for the last quiz? I really don't believe I spent 15 hours on it - more like 2-3hours (according to the template) from when I set up the template, and that was certainly no more that an hour or so after I clicked the clues before I decided on my focus.

Congratulations to all who have finished, and please stop asking them to do this again. I would rather see a different fiendish challenge than repeat this, interesting as it has been.

...and well, zorba_scank is right which kind of messes up the entire winner's table up there.

    Kyle: 12:09 am translates to 0:09, not 12:09 :)

...and the exact same reason on looney_tunes.
