It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

We will be posting the first task shortly after midnight GMT to get everyone working by/during the 15th.

At that point in time, for those planning Hardcore, we will also announce which track is A and which is B.

GMT! i had my day planned for FT time, which is significantly later. So much for finishing the Hungry Dino quiz first.

It just works best for us to post the clues at the same time and for people to be able to write during their Sundays.

The clues have been posted-- we're tracking your every movement now!
For those applicable, Wesley's is hardcore A, mine is hardcore B.

    Enjoy!

We originally looked at a later time, but then we wanted to make sure that Australian players also have some weekend time instead of being relegated to what is their Monday before we even get to the release.

And looney - remember you can still start later. Just resist the temptation to immediately click the thread :)

Yeah-- I failed that. Now I get to spend dinner thinking about the possibilities.

Thankfully I made my Will Save this time around :)

And with that I'm off to sleep for the night. Enjoy yourselves everyone!

Just out of curiosity, since I'm on Wesley's track Hardcore, clicking on Kyle's thread to see what his clues are won't affect me in any way...correct?

    kyleisalive

Will not affect you-- check it out! :)

Great! I can't start writin at the moment and I think peeking at the other thread will help tie my curiosity over till I can start writing!

Help...what's central time US compared to GMT? I have a HARD time with time...you can imagine how it is when I travel out of the country. Might as well throw my watch away.

Thank you. I'd just like to know when the clues will be posted - my time - since I still have this one night left on the road and severe T-storms and possible tornadoes ahead of me tomorrow.

Lee- they're already posted, about 40 minutes before I made this post.

Wes, the priority is this one on a beautifully clear Sunday. I hadn't expected it, and was ready to spend my night writing and staggering in to work with too little sleep. This is great, just unexpected. The dinosaur can wait a day or two.

All right, I've found something that tells me the diff between GMT and CDT. Midnight GMT is 7pm CDT. So, does that mean that midnight GMT would be 7 pm tonight, or tomorrow night? I'm assuming tonight, and thus it should already be posted.

    Sorry to be no techno-wiz.

looney_tunes, thanks so much. I wrote my last message before I refreshed the computer. Sorry for hogging up the board.

Do I recall that I was supposed to tell you here when I submitted my quizzes? Well, my computer says 11:22 and I just submitted it. It was Wesley's challenge, which was a challenge. It's called "By Whatever the Name...the Devil" and I put it under Satanism, since I really didn't know where else to put it. I'm sure the editor will tell me if it's in the wrong spot.

Do we need to post the titles to our quizzes and the times we submit them? I thought that it would be taken care of automatically.

That being said, I think posting the titles here or in the individual thread for the clue after they go online would be a good idea so that everyone knows which ones they are and can see how everyone completed the task.
