Now that I have submitted one, am I right in thinking that I can go have a look at the other one when I have time and energy to write another quiz, and complete it as well? Well, of course I can do that, the real question is can I do that and, if it's faster, have it count for the race? I had that impression, but would like to have it clear. Not that it will be today - I need to recover from the first sprint before I undertake another one!

If one team member clicks the link, will that start the timer for the other?

Re: "Do we need to post the titles to our quizzes and the times we submit them?"
--No need to worry about times or titles for Wes and my sake-- we'll always find them. You may, if someone doesn't beat you to it, post the quiz in this thread here once it's online. We'll compile them as they show.
Re: "the real question is can I do that and, if it's faster, have it count for the race?"
--I don't see why not. Not sure if Wes brought it up earlier.
Re: "If one team member clicks the link, will that start the timer for the other?"
--According to Wes, "We expect teammates to work together and share information, so once anyone in the team knows the clue, your timer is started."

Not that I am planning to have my quiz rejected, but I am interested in how the timing for this works if a quiz is rejected. Does the timer start again when it is sent back, or when I actually start editing it again, or does the timer pick up again as if I hadn't submitted, and measure the total time from first seeing the clue until making the submission that goes online?
If the last one is the case, then it doesn't matter whether I check every chance I get while at work to see whether it has been sent back for more work or gone online. However, if the timer starts adding more time as soon as it gets sent back, I should be ready to spring into action about it as soon as that happens, and work late to get the day's work done after the interruption. On the other hand, if it starts adding time when I first start editing, then I should resolutely stay away from opening any messages, and just discover the situation and address it when I get home and have the time to do so properly.
I imagine that's as clear as mud, but maybe you can provide a simple answer. :)

I've just come on here, having completely misunderstood the timing as I didn't register the GMT bit. Lee, my understanding of time zones is as bad as yours! I'll have to resist looking at the clues until later, though, as I'm nowhere near ready to start writing.

looney - rejections do not figure into your time at all (there would be too many variables in those including someone getting one while they have the next week's quiz in the queue and thus being unable to submit another), but we count how many of them you get over all 12 quizzes combined and then a flat time penalty is applied to your overall score. The first three are "free", further ones carry a gradually increasing penalty from 1 to 4 hours each.

Hmmmm, yes - I remember reading that somewhere. I was just panicking at the prospect of being chained to my desk at work while there is a correction waiting for me to attend to. Adrenaline is way up.

(That's a line from deleted scenes on "Galaxy Quest" - a really, REALLY funny movie and scene. It's a shame they left it out. He was talking about a giant rock though)

Do we have to announce when we've submitted or will it all be magically worked out in the background?

Good question, Mariamir. Based on that, I haven't looked at either of the clues yet, so I don't know if our clock is running or not. I have to leave for a 12-hour shift at in a couple of hours, so if I don't hear what our game plan is soon, I may wait until midnight EDT tonight to start... PM the Sprint thread with whatever guidance you want me to follow. :)

Mariamir, on a team, the first member clicking the clue which the team is writing for will start the timer.
Leith - no announcement is necessary, Kyle will grab your times off the quiz log as soon as it goes online. (Of course posting the quiz for us makes things easier, but we're checking and catching them as they come up.)

Does it matter that I used a quiz I started ages ago but didn't finish?

Sorry for the double post... I tried to edit a typo and for some reason it posted both the incorrect and the correct versions...

I'm scared of Kyle's quizzes. I think they'll be all versions of video games!
