It has seemed, over the past weeks, that some of our authors (specifically some of our racers) have had a bit of trouble acclimatizing to a slower pace. This is a reasonable thing to say-- I've had the pleasure of pushing you guys around FunTrivia for a good couple months (and longer) to write way out of your comfort zones. Some people just want more. Luckily, I do too.

That's why we're going for a FunTrivia Sprint.

This Sprint, like the Race, is not for the author who isn't ready to get their hands dirty and explore new grounds...quickly. The rules are as follows:

  • Wes and I have both created sprint courses; both are different.

  • Sprinters will be able to complete the Sprint as individuals or in teams of two. Once you figure out if you're going alone or in a double, you will need to choose one of the following options:
    * Normal Pairs: One member of the pair must complete either K or W.
    * Normal single: Play either K or W for each round. You choose which one you want.
    * Hardcore single: Choose K or W on the first task, stick with it for the rest of the game.
    * Hardcore pairs: On each set, one must complete K and one W.

  • Sprinters will receive tasks via the Lounge here-- even if you're not sprinting you'll be able to see the tasks as they appear.

  • There are a predetermined amount of tasks and all sprinters will receive the clues at the same time. This is not a race against competitors; it is a race for yourselves. This leads into the most important point.

  • Authors will have five days to write the quiz. This does not include queue times. The timer begins when the task is announced and ends when the quiz goes online.

The tasks will vary in many ways-- some will take authors to categories they never believed they would be able to visit and others may involve some of the site's most popular authors and quizzes.

If you wish to sign up, let us know here.
**If you wish to attempt the Hardcore options, please note whether you would like to select set A or set B. You will not know whose set is whose until we begin the sprint.

The Sprint will commence on April 15th.

The old reply to thread function was removed because it got to the point where people weren't even reading the announcements and assuming, by default, that they were somehow being wronged or forgotten or insulted or abused or cheated out of something in some manner.

Butties, baps, rolls, cobs... the list is endless :-D It just depends whereabouts in the country you are as to what they're called I think - guess that goes for the whole world come to think of it - do the Aussies say sangers? (I seem to remember it from Home and Away lol)

I don't know about other people, but no-one I know calls them sangers. I think Dad used to- years ago. But he spoke Aussie slang all the time.

Thank goodness for "Home and Away"! Yes, 'sangers' is a pretty common term for sandwiches here in Oz.

Well, technically, since we are still on the first task with enough time, you could still join in. If you want to go hardcore, however, we'll have to flip an old vinyl for you to see if you're A or B side :)

Can I still get an answer to the question I had earlier? It got lost in the conversation now a little ;)

I think Kyle answered that, James? That was your enquiry about the synopsis etc?

Oh no wait, you asked another since then - forget I spoke

(Creedy continues staggering looking more confused than ever)

Oh no, do Australians mean sandwiches when they say sangers, Mike??

I always thought it meant sausages. No wonder people have been looking at me oddly when, after enquiring if I'd like some sangers, I always respond with "No thanks, I don't like sausages".

    How embarrassing.

No problem, Creedy. It was the other question indeed ;)
